I’m proud share the official Corporate Climate Stocktake, released by the We Mean Business Coalition, with support from our team here at Bain & Company and the High-Level Climate Champions team. The Stocktake provides the clearest picture to date on business progress toward reaching #NetZero. Nearly a decade after the Paris Agreement, the report shows that we need to be asking ourselves whether we are organized enough to accelerate the energy transition. In the weeks leading up to the #RoadToCOP28, we’ll be taking a sectoral approach and diving into new insights from hydrogen, power, steel, aviation, road transport, cement, shipping, and agriculture, to better understand the pace of change and the barriers each face. Explore the critical areas of focus for COP28 discussions here: https://lnkd.in/eAJf3ZDi #COP28 #ClimateStocktake

Earlier this year after reflection I made a post as to why I decided to focus my work towards sustainable energy. The shift happened after having my family live through one of the most powerful, damaging and expensive Hurricanes that has been recorded in history. The economic damage was to the effect of 226% of Dominica's GDP vanishing overnight. The storm delivered over $1.2B USD in damages. It damaged nearly every roof in the country and ripped trees out of the ground as if they were nothing. The worst part - was watching this unfold from Canada without having communication with our family for weeks after the event. What we did have, was news reports and videos of devastation and wide spread damage. It was miracle that few people in Dominica passed away. Six years later, people are still feeling the trauma of Hurricane Maria in Dominica. Yesterday, I came across this article sharing how Dominica is working on being the world's first climate-resilient nation! I'll be following the process as and know that this will be no easy task and that it will require the support and funding of developed nations. When those of us in developed economies see these developments and eventually the requests for resources and fair funding, we should remember that many of these small nations are feeling the full force of climate change, yet contribute the least to the problem. I wish Dominica well in this massive undertaking, and hope that the global community will come together and loosen their pockets to support the people and communities who's livelihoods are at stake.

Dominica, a small Caribbean island, is embarking on an ambitious journey to become the world's first climate-resilient nation. This initiative is crucial, as the island's vulnerability to hurricanes and its mountainous terrain make it highly susceptible to climate change impacts. Dominica faces the daunting task of reinforcing its resilience against increasingly frequent and intense weather events, a challenge amplified by its geographical and economic constraints, such as: - Dominica emphasizes the protection of forests and coral reefs, which serve as a natural buffer against storms. This includes increasing protected forest areas and maintaining healthy coral reefs. - The island focuses on constructing hurricane-resistant buildings and roads, aiming for 90% of all housing to comply with resilient building codes by 2030. - Utilizing its natural geothermal resources, Dominica plans to achieve carbon neutrality with 100% domestic renewable energy production, including a geothermal plant for energy export. Dominica's comprehensive approach, combining natural resource protection, resilient infrastructure, and sustainable energy, sets a precedent for other nations facing similar threats. The island's resilience blueprint is not only a survival strategy but also a model for sustainable development in the face of climate change. Congrats to all involved in this development! Very well done! Let's see who follows their lead! #ClimateResilience #Dominica #SustainableDevelopment #RenewableEnergy #EnvironmentalProtection
