May is Mental Health Awareness Month. The construction industry has a high percentage rate of suicide, it is time to end the stigma and get help! When women act out they are called emotional, when men break down they are told to, “Man up”. Showing emotion does not make us weak. We are all human! Some days we break down, we never know what someone is going through outside of school or work. If you or someone you know is struggling please do not hesitate to find someone to talk to. IUPAT members remeber our incredible resources from TEAMS. We have counselors to help union members and their families with many issues. Divorce, grief, finding a therapist for mental health, the best doctors that fit your insurance plan, and so much more! Check in on your coworkers, even those who seem the cheeriest cracking jokes could be suffering. You don’t have to struggle in silence 💚

It's disheartening that mental health is still considered a taboo subject in today's world. The stigma surrounding mental health issues continues to impact individuals and hinder progress. It's painful to witness people reaching out for help, only to be labeled as having too many "emotional and psychosocial issues" and pushed aside. This cycle of neglect, gossip, and isolation only deepens their suffering and setbacks. We must work to change this narrative and provide the support and understanding that people struggling with mental health concerns truly deserve. Let's break the silence and stand together to eliminate the barriers and misconceptions surrounding mental health. It's time to create a more compassionate and inclusive society where everyone feels seen, heard, and supported. #mentalhealthawareness #endthestigma
