Inspired by the Maya Angelou quote, “There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.” Did you know while all of our communities face mental health challenges, Black communities often deal with more stigma and discrimination, and can receive compromised care. This is one of the reasons the VCS vision is to expand our reach, share our expertise, and strengthen partnerships to deliver the support people need to thrive; to champion the premise that mental healthcare is healthcare, ensuring equitable access to quality services for all.

I just finished reading Under the Skin - highly, highly recommend to anyone working in healthcare. It's an examination of all the insidious ways that racism impacts health: bodies "weathered" from constant stress, mental health impacted by current and generational trauma, communities sick from environmental hazards, all of it compounded by provider bias. Racism is a public health crisis and we need to treat it as such. https://lnkd.in/gZH6bp_x #healthdisparities #healthinequalities #endracism

In line with this mission, The Partnership @drugfreeNH has created "Better Now: Life Without Substance Use," a short film that conveys hope and resilience. It's an opportunity to see through the eyes of five remarkable individuals from #NewHampshire who have embarked on a long-term journey of #recovery from substance misuse. https://lnkd.in/erRv9Cx5 #NationalRecoveryMonth #HopeIsReal #RecoveryIsReal
