With pleasure, I hereby present our latest publication on a New Surgical Landmark for the identification of the Transverse-Sigmoid-Sinus-Transition, published in Brain and Spine. https://lnkd.in/djVQz-wK The transverse-sigmoid-sinus-transition constitutes an important anatomical landmark during a retrosigmoid craniotomy. Due to its anatomical variations, the location is highly variable. Landmarks for identification of the anterior border of the sigmoid sinus have been described extensively, although there is a paucity of landmarks for the identification of the posterior border. By means of a retrospective analysis of cerebral MRI examinations of one-hundred patients, we examined the relationship between the transverse-sigmoid-sinus-transition (TSST) and the most-posterior-part-of-the-auricula (MPPA). The most-posterior-part-of-the-auricula can be considered a fast and practical new anatomical landmark, without affecting operative fluency, especially during an emergency craniotomy. Read all about it in the latest edition of Brain and Spine ! European Association of Neurosurgical Societies (EANS) EUROSPINE, the Spine Society of Europe UZA

Spine is in the top five of the diseases most frequent in the world. 👉 How do your patient benefits from weight-bearing examinations? In this very interesting interview from Diagnostic Imaging Europe, the doctor Luigi Manfre, General Secretary of the European Society of Neuroradiology (ESNR), explains to Ben Giese how using MRI in weight-bearing position changed completely the strategy and vision of spinal interventional medicine, both in the field of diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up. This is an important step towards an increasingly effective patient care, in which we are particularly involved: at Esaote, we were among the first to introduce open MRI systems to the market, and today we are working on increasingly advanced procedures. We will discuss it at the upcoming event in Catania on April 21st “Advanced Solutions for Spine Interventional and True Motion Imaging on Open MRI”. 👨⚕️ You will have the opportunity to engage with top international experts, including Dr. Manfrè.
