This move follows the successful relocation of De Beers Global Sightholder Sales to Botswana in 2013. Meanwhile, Anglo American, which owns a majority stake in De Beers, is considering a sale of the diamond group due to underperformance in the global diamond market. The company has cut its 2024 production forecast by 10% and is open to offers from potential buyers. Amidst these developments, Anglo American’s shares surged after receiving a $39 billion takeover approach from rival BHP Billiton. Here's what we know: - Drilling Reaches Target Zone: Diamond drilling has been initiated below the Karoo sediments, aiming for the gold-bearing Kimberley Formation. Mexico’s Best Drilling Intercepts, Second Week of September 2023 On the second week of September, five companies posted results from their drilling programs on six Mexican projects. By a fair margin Alamos Gold results from drilling at Mulatos, in Sonora, are the most striking. Alamos is defining high-grade underground mineable gold mineralization on the Puerto del Aire deposit, adjacent to the Mulatos pit, and at the Capulin target, some 4 km from it. Mulatos is one of the most productive high sulfidation mineralization districts in Mexico, and Alamos Gold holds a sizable part the district. Vizsla Silver’s Panuco project in Sinaloa, Prime Mining’s Los Reyes property, also in Sinaloa, Gold Resource’s Don David mine in Oaxaca and Avino Silver’s Avino mine in Durango are part of intermediate sulfidation epithermal systems, strongly structurally controlled. Anglo American, a diversified mining and metals giant owns 85 percent of De Beers Group, while 15 percent is owned by Government of Botswana.
