🌍 Empowering Communities Through Active Engagement: A Key Takeaway from the Second National Infrastructure Assessment Launch Yesterday, I had the privilege of attending the launch of the second National Infrastructure Assessment in London, and the discussions were nothing short of inspiring. One key theme resonated deeply with me – the significance of empowering communities and ensuring effective engagement in all community-based initiatives. Engagement isn't just about talking; it's about listening intently to the voices of the community and valuing their input throughout the entire process. No matter the scale or nature of the initiative, the active participation of the community is paramount. It's about co-creating, collaboratively shaping and enriching the local environment from inception to completion. As I reflect on the insightful conversations from the event, I'm reminded that our collective responsibility is not merely to implement projects, but to nurture a sense of ownership and pride within the communities we serve. It's a reminder that by truly understanding the needs and aspirations of the community, we can create sustainable, impactful, and inclusive solutions. We need to embrace the power of active listening and genuine collaboration in our endeavours. Together, we can build stronger, more resilient communities where everyone's voice matters. #CommunityEngagement #InfrastructureDevelopment #ActiveListening #Collaboration #EmpoweringCommunities #NIA2 🌱🤝

Another exceptional topic to be covered by The Alberta Chamber of Resources. There are so many ways to improve collaboration in the end to end processes of #procurement. As we continue to see challenges associated with #energytransition, and become faced with even more complexities from our new/evolving supply chains - it will only get harder to collaborate as the new contacts and new companies come into play. I love to see continued discussions reminding us of the fundamentals of collaboration, the importance of building trust and the the varying ways of improving communication and understanding.
𝗦𝗢𝗟𝗗 𝗢𝗨𝗧! The Breaking Down the Barriers: Collaboration in Procurement Workshop has sold out! We want to give a big shout out to our partners and everyone who has purchased a ticket! Honoured to serve Chatham-Kent as Councillor for Ward 6; member of Ontario Caucus of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities and Communications Specialist.
Next week I’m excited to be back with my Federation of Canadian Municipalities colleagues for a round of board meetings. One of our top items for discussion will be the need for a new municipal growth framework. Why? Whether you live in Chatham-Kent, or anywhere in Canada, you know we need more housing. We need more supports for vulnerable communities. We need critical infrastructure that can adapt to climate change and also support growth. If you have watched any municipal budget discussion, you know we are facing massive budget pressures. Especially when it comes to aging infrastructure. And we need the other levels of government to come to the table to discuss a modern and updated approach on how to fund this infrastructure. It’s not just about bricks and mortar, pipes and pavement. It’s about ensuring a quality of life all of us deserve. #municipalities #cdnpoli #municipal #municipalgrowthframework #collaboration #infrastructurefinance #infrastructure #FCMUpdateRequired #cdnmuni

Experienced Owner of Mahony Transport | Driving Efficiency, Safety, and Success in Taranaki's Transportation Industry
In times of recession, it is crucial for our province to prioritize supporting local contractors and suppliers to ensure economic stability and community well-being. It is disheartening to witness out-of-town contractors leaving jobs incomplete or in poor conditions, which ultimately harms our local economy and community. When hiring a local contractor or supplier, their reputation and pride are at stake, providing an added level of assurance that the job will be done well. By choosing local businesses, we not only support our economy but also foster a sense of community pride and collaboration. It is imperative for councils to act proactively in directing spending towards local contractors and suppliers, as this not only safeguards the quality of work but also helps to keep money circulating within our province. Let us prioritize the well-being of our community by investing in local businesses and supporting the growth and prosperity of our region.

A development contribution is a one-off charge imposed on new developments as a contribution to any growth-related costs relating to infrastructure required for the development. The reason that these are imposed is commonly to contribute to a cities long-term growth.
