🔦INTERN SPOTLIGHT: Meet Leah Bridle. She is an intern with Landesa’s Climate Change team, advising on the risks and opportunities of carbon markets. ☀️This summer, she focused on arriving at actionable recommendations for the organization, given Landesa’s expertise and mission to advance gender-equitable and socially inclusive land rights. ❓What is something you’ve learned so far? "Beyond a lot of new knowledge about the fascinating and layered topic of voluntary and compliance carbon markets, my work this summer more generally reaffirmed what I learned from my experience in the research world. Good intentions are not enough, and there are no shortcuts to thinking critically and listening carefully while working in local communities, acting in policy arenas, and advising even well-meaning corporations and national governments." ⬇️Read her full interview here: https://lnkd.in/dRbeV5gR

Considering how little manufacturing actually happens in Ireland this is not surprising. Most recovered materials simply get exported mostly to be thrown away or burned outside the country. I would like to hear about examples of recovered materials being used in Ireland. The only one I can think of is Precious Plastics, who operate a 3D printer out in Ballymun Youth Outreach and collect plastic bottle tops for it. #circulareconomy #ireland #zerowaste #circularbusiness
Thanks to our intern Nikita Urquhart for this shockingly accurate infographic. The only thing "green" about Ireland is our grass, clearly. We have a long way to go if we really want to achieve our goals before 2030.

🚀 Excited to share my final project for my Internship in Air Alliance Houston! 🔍 During my program, I delved into analyzing industrial pollution in the Houston area. My project, the "Dirty Dozen Report," identified the top 12 industrial polluters out of 350 companies using comprehensive datasets like Toxic Release Inventory, EPA/TCEQ Enforcement and Compliance Data, and Risk Screening Environmental Indicators. 📊 This report provides valuable insights into environmental impact and serves as a crucial resource for understanding and addressing pollution challenges in our community. 📑 You can explore the detailed report below: Your thoughts and feedback are always appreciated! #DataAnalytics #EnvironmentalAnalysis #DataScience #HoustonPollution #MasterProject #CommunityImpact

I just completed Clifford Chance's Climate Change virtual internship on Forage. In the simulation I: - Learned how to approach climate change risks and challenges for Clifford Chance's law team. - Studied the impact of climate change legislation in the US and in the UK. - Review the issues and specifics of climate-related disclosure, as addressed by the EU commission. - Understood how carbon offsetting works and the function of Heads of Terms.

ICCROM and the Nantucket Historical Association have joined forces to face climate change’s impact on built heritage! We are happy to be partners in a groundbreaking initiative that engages graduate students in developing a disaster and climate risk management plan for the historic island of Nantucket, Massachusetts, USA. Together with Integrated Conservation (ICR-ICC) and the @University of Pennsylvania Stuart Weitzman School of Design, we are committed to making a difference. This inspiring endeavor stems from last year's international workshop and Climate Change and Cultural Heritage Symposium, organized by the US National Park Service in collaboration with NHA and ICCROM. By examining the impacts on cultural resources, we realized the urgency to take action. The ICCROM and NHA Programme is a multiyear collaboration that brings together partners to assess Nantucket's built heritage using an integrated framework. To foster collaboration and engage a wider audience, we have launched a dedicated website for the project. Currently, we are also happy to announce a graduate student internship programme for summer 2023. These bright minds will embark on a preliminary survey and assessment of approximately 20 historic properties owned by the NHA, along with other representative historic properties on the island. Through archival record review, documentation, material assessments, and environmental risk mapping, we aim to identify the critical factors endangering our cultural heritage. Carbon footprint calculation is an excellent management tool and an easy first step to ensure future operational sustainability. 👉🏼 Conducting scope 1-3 carbon footprint calculations based on the GHG Protocol is a daily task for our team, and the results are utilized to achieve climate goals, minimize operational costs, and secure future operational viability. 👉🏼 Currently, our team's intern, Iida Sinisalo, is starting her thesis work, which examines current practices of companies in utilizing these calculations as well as opportunities to utilize the data more effectively. 💡 Feel free to reach out to me if you would like to participate in Iida's thesis work and gain insights into potential opportunities for improving your own practices!
