Little did I realize that I was in the process of weaving communities together, a natural instinct that unfolded in various chapters of my life. Here's how it has played out over the years : Back in my 20s while tending bar, I took the time to genuinely connect with each customer, driven by a sincere care for their well-being. That led me to introduce them to other regulars, kickstarting friendships that took on a life of their own. Before I knew it, my lunch shifts became vibrant gatherings where people came not just for the drinks, but for the camaraderie we all shared. Transitioning into event production, I birthed the concept of POP OFF SHOPS, throwing events at the dopest downtown San Diego clubs. These occasions weren't just a platform for vendors to showcase their art; they morphed into meetups where attendees would reunite with their pals in a fun and vibrant setting. As my journey ventured into the realm of online client work, I intuitively crafted safe spaces for my community to congregate. These spaces allowed them to pose questions, share insights, and find the support they needed, turning my digital endeavors into virtual hubs of connection. Earlier this year, I set the wheels in motion for a creators' community, aptly named POP OFF. And let me tell you, every single member of this group is indeed popping off – not only due to the business wisdom they're absorbing from my journey, but also thanks to the incredible connections they're forming with one another. This is the real deal, a genuine community. Now, we're taking our online camaraderie up a notch with an in-person retreat planned for October in Cabo San Lucas! Lately, I've been delving into the intricate facets of cultivating a thriving community, transforming it into an approach that's all its own, a method. Witnessing how my two-decade-long practice is evolving to new heights is an absolute thrill!
