I had the opportunity to attend the NHS Confederation Expo in Manchester yesterday, and I wanted to share some of my reflections:   It is apparent that a growing number of innovators are seeking adoption by the NHS. Many discussions highlighted how pilots within the NHS serve as case studies for other countries. As one speaker noted in a talk hosted by the Health Innovation Network, there are "more pilots in the NHS than in the British Army." This speaks to the NHS's growing demand for evidence, making the evaluation of digital health technologies crucial now more than ever.   I had some interesting conversations with exhibitors about recent advancements. One highlight was the NHS Federated Data Platform, developed by Palantir Technologies. This platform aims to modernise the NHS data pipeline, enhancing data capture and access at a system-wide level - a key step in overcoming existing systemic barriers.   Improved data quality and accessibility through such platforms can lead to significant improvements in both quality and efficiency. This is a really big deal, folks! Today, we fulfilled a mandate that Congress passed 7 years ago as part of the CURES Act. I am excited to see the current robust interoperability that we already have around treatment get even better while we expand interoperability to #publichealth, Health Care Operations and Payment, just to name a few of the exciting new use cases. Implementing the latest #bestpractice for #suicideprevention (and other complex processes) across #patient journeys between #healthcare organizations is leagues harder. The technology is certainly available to build boundaryless Care Traffic Control systems & #learninghealthsystems. Kudos to the vendors and individuals who joined our #Veteran mental health care team orchestration #HL7 connectathon this week to drive #openstandards automation patterns of U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs clinical practice guidelines. The standards (BPM+ Health, #FHIR and CPG on FHIR) are now well aligned to move the industry forward.
