Li Auto, a car company from Beijing, has revealed a really big electric vehicle (EV) called the Mega. It's made for big families in China, where lots of people drive cars. The Mega is huge, measuring 17.5 feet long, 6.44 feet wide, and 6.1 feet tall. It can fit seven people comfortably. This big car can go a long way on just one charge – up to 441 miles. And it can charge really fast, even just 12 minutes can give it enough power to go 311 miles. The Mega has a special battery that helps it go so far without needing to charge often. It also has fancy features inside like screens, voice commands, and even massaging seats. Li Auto is selling the Mega for around $77,800. They say it's made for families who need a lot of space. Li Auto is a company that started in 2015 and has been making electric cars that can also run on gas. They've sold lots of cars already, but now they're facing tough competition in the electric car market in China. Other car companies in China are making similar big electric cars, like BYD Co. and Xpeng Inc. I have shared previously about the fast growth of EV market in China. Here is a chart which just showed how fast it happened. EV sales in China as a percentage of new car sales grew from about 2% in 2020 to 44% last month. As a reference, EV sales in the US was about 6.5% of total new vehicle sales in the United States last year. #leadership #energytransition #ev #China

There are so many cool car models at Chengdu international Auto show. And I am so glad to see there many new born brand of electric vehicles. My favorite three Chinese brand Lixiang,NIO and Xpeng. Many other brand such as Evoyage ,Tank, etc. OF course, the best seller BYD and Tesla. The number of new energy vehicles in Chengdu ranks sixth.Any interest and want to know more about Chinese local brand and what People in Chengdu like just let me know, I could provide more information. "BYD’s sub-$10,000 Seagull electric car sets a new bar for global automakers, forcing Detroit to pivot toward cheaper rides." ........................ ........................ Sorry nearly died laughing there. Detroit has pivoted away from small cars dicades ago, even before Korean entered the market. Detroit's DNA is in bigger, louder and more expensive. They will pooh pooh the Dolphin, calling it a death trap and a China spy. And getting the US regulators to ban it from the roads for safety and unfair competition (Ironic I know). Detroit has lost the will to compete in the small car segment, the sedan segment and is willing to give that up to Japan, Korea, Germany. They went after the minivans, the SUVs and now the pickup trucks. No, the ones that are afraid of BYD's Dolphin's eventual US market entry are the Japanese, Koreans and German makers (Mini is a German owned brand). They will let Detroit do the dirty work for them.

"That 50 kinds of fully electric cars are available in the U.S. may seem like a lot. Though in China, you can find some 235 filling virtually every possible niche for price, luxury, technology, utility, and so much more." But we often pay twice as much or more for EVs (the US has a 25% EVF tariff from the last administration) as Chinese or most of the rest of the world if we can even get the cars! https://lnkd.in/g7cDPv69

Changan’s Lumin EV is among the popular mini-electric vehicle offerings in China. The pint-sized car has just witnessed a massive discount making it more accessible to the masses. Due to intense competition in the Chinese auto sector, automakers are engaging in a pricing war for cars, offering big discounts and perks to entice buyers. Changan Lumin’s pricing has been lowered by up to 12,000 yuan (PKR 4.65 lac), with the EV now boasting a starting price of just 37,900 yuan (PKR 14.70 lac). However, the discount on the flagship Lumin variant is less generous at 5,000 yuan (PKR 1.94 lac).

If you live in Britain, it's been hard to miss the recent great automotive embiggening - especially among electric cars. New SUV sales are up 75% in the last decade, and SUVs made up just under half of new electric car sales last year. But for many people, a big, heavy, expensive car just isn't suitable. If you don't need 300 miles of range, you want to fit into small parking spaces and you don't have £60,000 to spend, your options are more limited. A cohort of new Asian-made EVs is trying to change that. To see how that's going, I tested one of them out for a couple of days - the Ora Funky Cat, made by Great Wall Motor Co., Ltd., a Chinese company.
