Staff from the Bergen Vicinage celebrated its employees with its Annual Employee Appreciation Week last week. Each day of the week included different activities including Yoga, raffle drawings, homemade snacks, bingo, and rooftop tours. The week ended with Ice Cream Day.

Celebrating Zenbar’s very own Staff Appreciation month with a mix of perks and wellness options to support the team! A favorite? Two weeks ago we joined together for Soul Flow Yoga led by one of our very own RMT & Yoga Instructors. Sending out a gigantic thank-you to each and everyone of our staff who bring compassion, joy and dedication to the guest experience in everything they do. A team is not simply a group of people that work together - a team is a group of colleagues who join forces and learn to blend their strengths to create a stronger “whole” or entity. A strong team is capable of greatness because of each individuals willingness to learn from each other, support each other when challenges arise and are collectively working towards the same mission. We celebrate our staff this month because time can slip by and it’s possible to take the amazing talent around us for granted, even when it’s not the intention. This month is about celebrating everything beautiful about the team under our roof and recognizing that our business is the serene and positive environment it is because of their shared efforts. I snapped this picture at the end of one of my classes last week. My theme for class that night was “take your hand back.” There are people at work, at home, out in the world constantly grabbing us by the hand and saying, “this is important!” “No! THIS is important!” “This really IS important!” It’s constant and it’s exhausting. When was the last time that you pulled your hand back, put it on your heart and said, “THIS is the most important and I need to hold space for it.”? It serves all of us to pull our hands back and practice self care. We can’t pour from an empty cup. When we protect our peace and honor our own needs, we as employees, parents, partners and friends are able to practice compassion for others and can change our little corner of the world. It’s a drop in the bucket, but it’s something. If you are an employer, what are you doing to create a healthy workplace? As a parent, are you holding even just a little bit of space for yourself? As a partner are you caring for yourself as much as you care for your partner? It doesn’t have to be yoga, though I’m biased to say it does!
