Washington Governor Jay Inslee, a Democrat, recently signed a law mandating public schools to teach LGBTQ history, amidst a national debate on the topic. The law, Senate Bill 5462, requires schools to adopt diverse curricula by 2025-26, including LGBTQ, racial, and disability histories. Advocates highlight the positive impact of inclusive education in reducing bullying. Washington joins six other states in enacting similar laws. This move contrasts with conservative efforts in some states to restrict LGBTQ-related teachings. Experts view this as a reaction to anti-LGBTQ measures elsewhere, emphasizing the importance of inclusive education and countering misconceptions about LGBTQ identities. https://lnkd.in/gNUPWAHB
