Summer has been an incredible season filled with wonderful events hosted by our amazing community partners! We had the pleasure of tabling at the 3rd Annual CNI “Jump Into Summer” Safety & Health Resource Fair and Wadsworth Day hosted by Council Member Anthony Phillips. We appreciate the opportunity to share our resources with the community, including how individuals can become Resource/Foster Parents. A big thank you to everyone who came out!

Rural and Remote Matters CRANAplus Senior Policy Advisor Flinders SA/NT Nursing Lecturer Deputy Chair National Rural Health Alliance Board Director Australian College of Nursing Nurse Midwife Health Program Australia
Definitely a great read to revisit the history of these matters! #remote #rural #health #aboriginalhealth
Spent the Easter break finishing some books on my tbr list - the first Remote As Ever by David Scrimgeour - an outback doctor who was in the right place at the right time to walk with and work with Western Desert people in NT, SA & WA in establishing their health services. I started this months ago, got busy and have finally made it back to finish - excellent read, informative and for those who have also worked in these areas a journey across the red sand with many people you’ve met along the way - all good people.

Have you heard about the resource created by the International Association of Chiefs of Police on how therapy dogs can enhance officer resilience in law enforcement wellness programs? Police work can be incredibly stressful, and officers face daily challenges that can affect their mental and emotional well-being. Including therapy dogs in a holistic wellness strategy can make a significant difference in supporting officers. Dogs provide comfort, reduce stress levels, and offer non-judgmental companionship. They can also improve mood, enhance interpersonal communication, and foster camaraderie among officers. #lawenforcement #wellnessmatters
Interested in learning about the impact of facility or therapy dogs on law enforcement resilience? Want to know how these dogs might be beneficial to your agency? Dogs provide an immediate sense of calm and offer support without judgment. Wellness programs featuring therapy or facility dogs offer a practical, affordable, and effective approach to promoting officer wellbeing. Learn more about how dogs can enhance officer wellness and how to incorporate them into your agency’s wellness program through IACP’s new resource, The Impact of Dogs on Resilience, developed in collaboration with the Bureau of Justice Assistance. https://bit.ly/3H2FBoT Check out the IACP OSW website for additional officer safety and wellness resources: https://lnkd.in/g5AVH7kf

We devalue what we have and overvalue what we don't. People spend their whole lives chasing the horizon without appreciating or leveraging what they have within their grasp. Stunning isn't it? Ever heard the "Acres of Diamonds" story? There are many versions of it because it's such a truism. A man in South Africa sells his farm to hunt for diamonds (but fails). The woman who bought his farm discovers a massive diamond while working the abandoned field and starts up one of the biggest diamond mines in the world. Something to ponder for your 2024: How can you make more out of what you have and how will you benefit, progress and thrive because of it? #life #lifeadvice #newyearsresolution
“The grass is not greener on the other side, the grass is greener where you water it.” - Sean Cannell I first heard Sean share this on a Think Media video and understandably it resonated with me. Too often in my life I have found myself wishing that I had someone else’s: • Career • Gadget • Holiday • Whole life It’s only within the last few years that I have found peace in what I have. More important than this realisation is that I can improve my current situation if I approach my allotment patch with care. My life can be far more beautiful and fruitful than the lives that I was jealous of by merely taking ownership of its care. So what’re you waiting for? Pick up your watering can. ••• Join 5,000+ people getting wiser each week by signing up to our free newsletter: www.wisernewsletter.com
