Does it ever feel like you can't explain it but you just know your pain is 'down there'? Lower abdominal pain refers to discomfort or pain that is felt below the belly button, in the area between the pelvic bones. This region includes various organs such as the intestines, bladder, uterus (in females), and reproductive organs. We asked @doctor.allyson to weigh in on the causes of lower abdominal pelvic pain in her latest blog. Lower abdominal pelvic pain is not normal to have, and we would advise seeing a healthcare provider if you are having any lower abdominal or pelvic pain. Common causes of lower abdominal pelvic pain lasting more than 6 months are: 🟣 Endometriosis 🟣 Adenomyosis 🟣 Fibroids 🟣 Peri-menopause pelvic pain 🟣 Post-partum pelvic pain 🟣 Pelvic floor muscle spasm and nerve pain Pelvic floor muscle spasm and nerve pain is present in 86% of chronic pelvic pain cases. It can either be a stand-alone cause of persistent pelvic pain or secondary to an underlying condition such as Endometriosis, Adenomyosis, or Fibroids. DYK: With the PRM Protocol™, 75% of our patients have experienced a statistically significant improvement in pain and function, 88% of patients stated they missed 0 days of work due to their pelvic pain in the last 3 months, and 96% are not needing to go to the ER for their pain now that they have a PRM pelvic pain specialist on their team. Remember: pain is never normal. There is a better way to provide the quality of life that patients deserve. The better way is here. Read the full blog --> https://bit.ly/3UFej02 💜

📣 The PRM Protocol™ is Cutting Costs for Patients While Improving Treatment Outcomes for Pelvic Pain PRM Offers Non-Invasive & Effective Treatment to Restore Pelvic Floor Function ... when it comes to endometriosis and pelvic pain, the approach should be simple and cost-effective for patients. The PRM Protocol™ not only addresses the complexities of pelvic dysfunction but also offers cost savings to patients by reducing the need for extensive treatments and procedures, such as pelvic floor physical therapy (PFPT) sessions and medications with minimal sustained results. Patients are looking for a solution that does not send them in circles - as they have often already spent quite a bit of time and money looking for relief. "One of the defining factors of the PRM Protocol™ is its conservative approach. Patients come to us feeling they have exhausted their options for relief – options that are quite invasive and have not provided pain relief," says Dr. Allyson Shrikhande, Co-Founder and Chief Medical Officer, Pelvic Rehabilitation Medicine. "We are offering a novel approach to treating pelvic dysfunction that's not only safer but more affordable and decreases the need for continuous treatments that have not been effective". A more proactive and preventative approach to pelvic pain results in less pain over a longer time – 75% of PRM patients note a statistically significant Improvement in Pain and Function. 🗞️ Read the full article --> https://yhoo.it/4aQrUGf 💜

The PRM Protocol™ is a proprietary, simple, office-based procedure to treat the symptoms of chronic pelvic pain by a direct treatment of inflamed pelvic nerves and spastic pelvic muscles. This treatment consists of a series of pelvic nerve and muscle treatments to target inflammation in the pelvis, nerve pain, and pelvic floor muscle spasms. 💉 This treatment consists of a series of pelvic nerve and muscle treatments to target: 🟣 Inflammation in the pelvis 🟣 Nerve pain 🟣 Pelvic floor muscle spasm Patients often ask us about the safety of treatment, specifically how is it safe for reproductive organs. PRM’s treatment is provided externally, is ultrasound-guided, and uses no radiation. The PRM Protocol™ is safer for the reproductive organs than other treatments available for pelvic pain. This is because PRM’s treatment is provided externally, is ultrasound-guided, and uses no radiation. Check the link in our bio to learn more. 💜

Subanaesthetic propofol infusion for migraine crisis With the great support from our ICU colleagues, we have recently treated a patient successfully by subanaesthetic propofol infusion. This patient is refractory to conservative medication treatment and failed greater occipital block, C2 ganglion block, cervical facet nerve block and Botox. Despite ketamine and magnesium infusion, NRS was still 8-9/10. We decided to proceed to a subanaesthetic propofol infusion. The pain was successfully suppressed to 3-4/10 ie her baseline. The next plan for long term control will be a trial of transcutaneous vagal nerve stimulation. Here's the gist: IBS: A functional disorder causing abdominal discomfort and changes in bowel habits, managed through lifestyle changes. IBD: Chronic inflammation (e.g., Crohn's, Ulcerative Colitis) needing medical treatment, sometimes surgery. Understanding is key for proper treatment. Chronic pain in the groin or pelvic area can significantly impact a person’s quality of life. Genitofemoral nerve blocks offer a targeted solution to alleviate this discomfort. It involves the precise injection of medication near the genitofemoral nerve. This nerve originates from the lumbar spine and travels down to the groin and upper thigh. The procedure aims to interrupt pain signals transmitted by the genitofemoral nerve, providing relief for various conditions. Moreover, Genitofemoral nerve blocks serve as diagnostic tools. By administering anesthetic near the nerve, doctors can determine if it is the source of pain. Beyond diagnosis, these nerve blocks offer therapeutic benefits. The injected medication reduces inflammation and provides lasting relief. Conditions treated include but are not limited to: Chronic groin pain, testicular pain, penile pain and pelvic pain. Remember, individual responses to genitofemoral nerve blocks can differ. However, this minimally invasive technique offers hope for those seeking relief from persistent discomfort in the groin and pelvic area. Always consult with a healthcare professional to determine the best approach for your specific condition.
