this is really exciting. 💫 As a lighting designer I always seek to create spaces for people improving the user experience, well-being and atmosphere. Designing with a holistic approach and for the people using the spaces. Being involved in the PerCiLight project is a personal milestone and a very special one. If you want to know why? Keep on reading. 👉 during university I investigated a great amount of time understanding the visual and non-visual effects of light. And it still accompanies and influences my design thinking. 👉 guess what the topic of my thesis was 🤓 👉 back in the time, technology was not yet ready to apply all the findings. 👉 but the demand to utilise science, technology and design to develop better and healthier living and working spaces was already there 👉 over the years, research has proved the impact and importance of light on our health and well-being. 👉 and technology has evolved as well 👉 beyond that, a mutual understanding and awareness for the importance of dynamic lighting and the right light at the right time has finally arrived in society. 💫 so here we are, about 20years later, there is finally a project, where everything comes together and lighting design can make a lasting impact improving the quality of space and the quality of life for elderly and the staff in elderly care homes. 🙏 kudos to the project team from PerCiLight for the great collaboration and innovative thinking 🙏 kudos to AAL Progam and the EU funding programs as well as Innosuisse for supporting this innitiative 🙏 last but not least - special thanks goes to the staff at Bauneparken Care Center for believing in the benefits of dynamic lighting and the tireless commitment and care ❤️. #innovation #Percilight #dynamiclighting #aal #innosuisse #eldercare #grateful #therightlightattherighttime #lightingdesign #value #valuecreation #forabetterfuture

Over 2,000 hospital buildings older than the NHS England, new research reveals New research has shown over 2,000 hospital buildings across England were built before the NHS was established in 1948, Building Better Healthcare reached out to the Trusts with the highest number of these buildings in its estates. The research found that The Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust in London has the highest proportion of outdated buildings in the county. Followed by Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust then Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. A public private partnership to expedite the delivery of the elective hospitals in Cork and Galway has again been proposed this week. Cork TD Colm Burke has repeatedly for years called for PPP delivery to expedite these projects with as of yet no clear reason given as to why not, including from the Minister for Health and HSE. It comes as the HSE seeks Pre-Construction Advisory Support to Deliver on Public Spending Code Requirements for the National Maternity Hospital at St. Vincent’s University Hospital in Dublin. Given the current situation in Ireland’s hospitals, recent experiences with hospital projects, and that PPPs are delivering health facilities right now around the country just fine (I am looking at a site in Midleton right now!) there can be no reason why market soundings with the infrastructure delivery sector should not be conducted immediately to find a way to design-build-finance-maintain public hospitals in Ireland faster and better before money is spent on a design that is not optimal for delivery. If not then the same procurement process for the National Children's Hospital will most likely be repeated. The record numbers of people on trolleys in hospitals this week do not require an ideological debate about using private finance, they need hospitals and healthcare. #healthcare #publicprivatepartnerships #infrastructure
