Overcoming Charge Anxiety and Meeting Customer Expectations with Energy Dense Lithium-Metal Batteries with Brian Sisk from Sepion Technologies. In this presentation, Brian will review current state-of-the art lithium-ion fast charge performance as an expected baseline requirement for emerging lithium-metal batteries, and further connect that pack-level fast charge performance requirement to material-level characteristics that must be achieved in order to plate non-dendritic lithium on the anode. Examples include diffusion coefficients, Sand's time, and transference numbers—as a function of temperature—needed to facilitate cell-level battery performance. Last month, our co-Founder and CEO John Busbee attended S&P Global’s annual CERAWeek event in Houston, TX, where he had the opportunity to deliver an Innovation Agora Pod presentation highlighting Xerion’s game-changing lithium-ion battery technology platform. This technology is core to our company’s revolutionary StructurePore™ lithium-ion battery electrode architecture and DirectPlate™ molten salt electroplating manufacturing process. Taken together, this architecture and manufacturing process enable Xerion to use low-purity battery material feedstocks, to deliver a lithium-ion battery that is lower cost, with higher energy density and power, faster charge, longer life, and lower risk of thermal runaway than options on the market today. This is an amazing step towards improving the huge waste and pollution associated with batteries, which we need as the world moves towards electrification to meet our climate goals. The implications of 👇: - Battery life is extended, enabling us to use them for a longer period of time in applications like electric vehicles (EVs) in its 1st life - Due to longer battery life, we can repurpose them after they are unsuitable for EV use to other applications like grid and residential energy storage systems in their 2nd life - Reliable and safe usage even in high temperatures - this is especially important for electrification in South and Southeast Asia as our region heats up
