It was great to present this research with Tim Ziemba at the AVS 69 exhibition. The Impedans Ltd Semion 3 keV system was a crucial diagnostic for measuring ion energy distributions at the target electrode with EHT bias waveforms applied to the surface. EHT's precision pulse power will be an enabling feature for high-aspect-ratio etching tools in the angstrom era. #semiconductorindustry #semiconductormanufacturing #etching #pulsedpower
Generating high-aspect-ratio (HAR) features through plasma etching is gaining significance due to the growing market need for solid-state non-volatile memory storage. The size progression of lithium-ion cylindrical cells is nicely illustrated in the photograph below from 18650, to 21700 and the 4680 cell. AIS has just taken delivery of Panasonic NMC 4680 cells to conduct thermal runaway testing. As the cell market developments and produces larger and greater energy dense cells, AIS is leading material testing by evaluating solutions against future cell technologies. Ensuring OEMs and designers have solutions for tomorrows challenges.
