The SMR-300 will be able to operate in a desert. It will be able to be adjusted to use an air-cooling system to deliver heat and power in an arid environment.

Air cooling is not that efficient when compared to wet cooling but plant availability by Air cooling is much better than wet cooling.

Small Modular Reactors offer the ability to deploy a cost effective, energy efficient, and clean energy solution virtually anywhere. Designs are safe as containment is effective during the use of the unit. Similarly, they can last anywhere from 20 to 40 years and beyond which is very impressive. They will be critical in reaching our 2050 Net Zero goals as a Country.

Bill, Will the spent fuel from SMRs be cooler and less radioactive than spent fuel from current PWRs and BWRs ?

Since when does DOE provide free advertising for a private corporation that has yet to provide a working SMR? In theory, its great, but in practice, its manufacturing and end feasibility can very easily be the opposite. If it is successful, then yes, please share the success. However, this is still just a pipe dream from what I've seen and as in any new tech, will come with massive cost overruns until the "kinks" are worked out.

Perhaps this century there should happen a waterless nuclear power route to convert heat into electricity directly. I guess there is such a concept design for the moon...or mars.

This perhaps looks Holtec old advertisement. General Electric will do turbine part and HITACHI will do control systems. I don't see any hopes for this coming in reality. Sorry for being harsh.

The operative word is "developing". How far developed is it, where is it in the licensing review process, and when will the first dirt be moved?

While the Australian government insists there is no such thing as SMR, and feeds this false narrative to the Australian society, in order to discredit the only reliable energy source able to help us face the challenges of the 21st century. And no, Tesla batteries are not an energy source. #saynotoenergypowerty
