Mayor Eric Adams and the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene released a report on the impact of social media on mental health among NYC families. The report, based on surveys of over 22,000 parents, found higher rates of anxiety among children, teens, and parents who use social media. With 93% of NYC teens using social media, the report highlights concerns about its unregulated effects on mental health. Recommendations include expanding educational resources, implementing safety programs, and regulating social media companies. The Adams administration has launched initiatives like TeenSpace and filed lawsuits against major social media platforms to address these issues. Cure Staffing has the ability to support New York City's initiative to address the mental health crisis exacerbated by social media by providing qualified mental health professionals, such as therapists, counselors, and social workers, to schools and community programs. These professionals can help implement educational resources, digital literacy programs, and provide direct mental health support to children, teens, and families affected by social media use. #MentalHealthMatters #YouthMentalHealth #SocialMediaImpact #MentalHealthAwareness #SubstanceUseDisorder #NYCHealth #CommunitySupport #HealthcareCollaboration #HealthcareStaffing
