For #NationalInternDay, I want to share a few highlights from the great conversation I had with our MassMutual summer interns at our Springfield office last week. This group represents the innovative spirit of our future leaders, and their insightful questions gave me the chance to share a few lessons that I’ve learned along my journey at the company:   💡 Build a personal board of directors – such as trusted friends, family, and colleagues – to gain diverse perspectives and help you navigate challenges. 💡Become an expert in at least one area where you can be the “go to” person. 💡Show up, work hard, and seize every opportunity that comes your way. Happy Intern Day! In the course of the past two months, it has been fun and interesting to work with and get to know some of our interns. For many (maybe all?) this is their first fully in-person job experience. When I contrast our intern program this summer with my son's internship with Coke during the pandemic, it's like night and day. Both positive experiences, but very different. I know there is still a lot of discussion around #returntooffice and in our business that discussion usually focuses a lot on investment in office buildings. I wonder the long-term impact on young careers of in-person vs. work from anywhere vs. hybrid internships and early work experience.

There is perhaps no more important mission in the gas markets than to expose young people to the nature and importance of energy security, natural gas' critical role in carbon emissions reduction, support for America's Allies around the globe for energy access, use of a native US resource to support a manufacturing renaissance here in the US...the list goes on.
