Did you know?
Women are often less likely to receive bystander CPR because rescuers often fear accusations of inappropriate touching, sexual assault or injuring the victim.
Cardiovascular disease is the No. 1 killer of women, causing 1 in 3 deaths each year. It’s a third of our mothers, sisters, friends, neighbors, coworkers and more. It’s a third of the women we can’t bear to live without.
As the leader of our 2024 Go Red for Women campaign, we invite you to introduce it to the community during CPR Week, June 1 - June 7.
9 out of 10 of people who suffer cardiac arrest outside of the hospital die. In most of these cases, bystander CPR was not performed.
This is happening in workplaces, at home and on athletic fields in our community. We know we can change this and save more lives in Marion.
That is why the Marion Heart Walk will broaden efforts to drive CPR education, awareness and community initiatives.
Our goal is to have at least one person in every household learn CPR and the Heart Walk, as our largest community campaign with the most people involved, it is a key initiative in reaching this goal.
