Aceh Tamiang has shown the way. There are a few, still too few, other jurisdictions where broad collaborative approaches are taking place. It can be led by #palmoil, #coffee, #naturalrubber, #cocoa, #coconut, and it has to be as soon as possible. We need to all find what we can contribute to jurisdictions or landscapes, and start working #beyondsupplychain. It is a sound investment.

Our sustainability programme is aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and thus contributes to at least six of the Sustainable Development Goals. One of these is Decent work and economic growth. Our founder, Rudi Lamprecht, who worked in development aid for many years, was always committed to improving the living standards of the inhabitants of impoverished lakeside communities and their infrastructure. Today, we are recognised as a leading food producer and major employer at our lakeside and factory locations in Mexico, Honduras and Indonesia. In addition, last year Regal Springs Mexico helped 65 employees to acquire a primary school education. Three orangutans – Lanting, Junior and Praca – were released into the forests of the Indonesian island sanctuary of Salat as part of their adaptation process before their reintroduction back to their natural habitat. 🦧🦧🦧 This initiative was made possible through a close partnership between four RSPO Members: 👉 Independent smallholder group Asosiasi Petani Kelapa Sawit Mandiri (APKSM) 👉 Yayasan Fortasbi Indonesia 👉 PT Sawit Sumbermas Sarana Tbk 👉 Borneo Orangutan Survival (BOS) Foundation Funds from RSPO Credits were used by the APKSM smallholders to provide vital support for the orangutans’ survival, including the primates’ food provisions for one year. This orangutan release project showcases how oil palm smallholders can champion sustainability by playing an active role in the conservation and protection of endangered species. This initiative also demonstrates how buyers can be involved in conservation projects through their purchase of RSPO Credits. “With the RSPO Credit funds from palm oil buyers, APKSM was able to contribute to the protection of the Bornean orangutan,” said Rukaiyah Rafik, Head of FORTASBI Secretariat. On 5-6 September 2023, Aruna came as a speaker to the ASEAN-Indo-Pacific Forum (AIPF): Implementation of the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific. AIPF was one of the series of a flagship event, the 43rd ASEAN Summit, which was attended by the President of the Republic of Indonesia and many delegates from ASEAN countries. Taking place at Hotel Mulia, Jakarta, AIPF discussed three main areas, namely green infrastructure and resilient supply chains, digital transformation and creative economy, and sustainable and innovative financing. "It’s truly an opportunity to show how committed and serious we are about actualizing the welfare of Indonesian fishers using technological innovations that we develop and use internally,” said Utari Octavianty, the Co-Founder and Chief Sustainability Officer of Aruna. Utari explained that the technological transformation applied to Aruna's business ecosystem aimed to revolutionize the supply chain of the Indonesian fisheries industry. She then explained that Aruna Heroes App and Aruna Fisher App, for instance, were where Aruna Fishers’ transactions and rewards when closing certain targets were recorded. “Fishers are definitely in Aruna's DNA. One of the impacts is an increase in income of at least 3 to 12 times. However, it’s not to change the whole existing system: we embrace the rest and collaborate with them even, to create healthy and sustainable business together,” she added. Amidst this, Siak Regency stands out as a beacon of hope. Through Green Siak initiative, Siak tackled the flames head-on, reducing fire-affected areas significantly. Siak's commitment is unwavering. Despite challenges, a remarkable decline in fires is progressing, a testament to the dedication and sustainability. Head of Siak Regional Development Planning Agency, Leonardus Budhi Yuwono, affirms the tangible impact: "What we feel the most is the reduction in the rate of fires." In collaboration with NGOs and corporations, including Wilmar International and Greenpeace Indonesia, Siak pioneering change. This #WorldWaterDay, we’re proud to celebrate 20 years of Suntory Mizuiku – our next-generation environmental education programme on nature and water. We’ve had 20 incredible years of engaging with passionate children and having them experience the wonder of nature. In the last 5 years, Mizuiku programmes have launched across Thailand, Vietnam, and most recently in New Zealand. Students have learnt about the importance of water conservation and what they can do to pass on the importance of preserving water resources to their peers and communities. 💧 🌍 To date, more than 330,000 students in APAC directly, and many more indirectly, have participated in the programme.    Water is the source of all lives on our planet. As a beverage business, water is critical in our aim to enrich the everyday lives of our consumers with high quality products. Today, we celebrate how far we’ve come and how much further we’ll go to protect our water resources and live in harmony with nature. In Sumatra, Indonesia, we have been working with local NGO Yakopi to restore the mangroves since 2021. An audit carried out in November 2023 analyzed the results of the project's first two years, during which 𝟖𝟖𝟎,𝟎𝟏𝟑 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐬 were planted.
