There's something that bothers me, and I'm sure I've been guilty of it at some point in the past too. Often, I receive outreach from CEOs, owners, and sales reps trying to move my freight or sell me their TMS and even offering me hiring, payroll, or nearshoring services— demonstrating little to no research of Talentek by Hubtek's operation. Today, attention spans are very limited, and prospects are being targeted left and right. That's why it's extremely important that sales efforts are strategically targeted and show high personalization and human interaction. You have to be strategic about where you invest your efforts, ever if they're somehow "automated". I believe in taking the time to research a company before reaching out to a prospect. It's okay if, after doing so, you don't have a clear understanding of their needs and operations; that's what discovery calls and initial conversations are for. However, prior research will allow you to have meaningful and human conversations to offer valuable solutions. "If I was hiring 5 reps this quarter they'd be one of them. But for this particular hire it's not quite the right timing". This VP sales statement is common and summarises what we will see for first half of 2024. SaaS firms made huge efficiency gains in 2023. For now they're hiring less total volume, and with more rigour. There's demand for reps who can: - Win new business and engage at c-level - Operate autonomously and orchestrate their own patch - Work in unstructured environments with global internal teams. Recruitment processes are longer. Sign off is required from +2 decision makers. Expectations are higher. If hiring team isn't 100% confident, they're prepared to go back the drawing board and search again. Competition will increase and create demand for this small segment of high performers. Earnings and comp offerings for this group will remain high and, I think, increase in 2024. Outside of this small group the first half of the year could remain flat across the board, with employers holding more leverage. A SaaS acceleration in second half of year (as many are predicting) will bring more opportunity (and competition). #saleshiring #salesrecruiter #salesjobs

What is the rationale for paying employees big fees for GTM candidate referrals today? Seems clear to me these programs easily morph into side hustles for employees to cherry pick candidates with the right credentials on paper to "recommend." There's often no vetting beyond that. In fact, since few managers want their employees committing extra time to involvement here, these referral programs would seem to lose any accountability expectations. To be clear, I do not think employees are necessarily gaming anything. They're being besieged by job seekers because so many influencers are preaching to go find the back doors into companies. As an employee, why not submit a few of them if this does not run afoul of guidelines? But how does this help companies solve for better hiring? And for better management of recruiting costs? What am I missing - in market today? #hiring #employeereferrals
