📢 A new report by Candid shows significant disparities in nonprofit leadership diversity. While the overall nonprofit workforce is fairly diverse, top leadership roles remain predominantly white. The survey of nearly 60,000 public charities highlights that 70% of CEOs are white, with Black and Hispanic leaders comprising only 15% and 6%, respectively. This calls for urgent actions towards equitable opportunities and inclusive leadership. Twenty-four Black nonprofit leaders from Philadelphia came together on June 26, 2020, to create a safe virtual space to unpack and process the trauma resulting from the murder of George Floyd. Since that day in June 2020, the group of Black nonprofit leaders, now formally named the Black Nonprofit Chief Executives of Philadelphia (BNCEP), continue to be of support for one another and organizing itself around three priorities: 1) Create a supportive network for Black nonprofit leaders; 2) Advocate for equitable funding; and 3) Support, grow, and strengthen Black nonprofit leadership.
