To keep or not to keep those pedestrian recalls implemented during Covid? Context, volumes, and other considerations will come into play, but one element that is very important is the pedestrian delay. Simply returning those ped phases to actuated while maintaining the same long cycle lengths or staying in coordination altogether may result in an excessive swing in the 'other direction'. You may soon find you have wasted green time and people on the side street waiting around. A few strategies we've implimented when removing the recalls is shortening the cycle lengths and/or adding a late entry ped permissive window. If you can show ped delay is the same if not better with the ped recalls out, it's hard to argue against that. https://lnkd.in/gYjM_Ujb
