Fashion is none of our business. We make gear that is multifunctional, repairable and timeless—because the longer it stays in play, the better it is for the earth. Learn more at https://pat.ag/LI/Quality

Buy a piece of clothing here is one of the best investment someone can do for their wardrobe. Timeless pieces and long durability. Amazing.

Annemarie, dit is dus zo'm merk die kleding maakt dat lang meegaat op een zo verantwoord mogelijke manier (ja, het is niet altijd even mode-bewust) :D

I love the brand but.. all through ‘Let my people go surfing’ and beyond I’ve had a big niggle. You make stuff that has a negative impact on the environment (despite all the great mend and repair stuff). You endorse and promote activities that damage the environment (how much stuff left on mountains and campsites?). Great ethos but flawed fundamental direction Patagonia. All because the founder loves climbing

You are still using petroleum based products right? Are you trying to find solutions for this? How much money are you putting into finding alternatives to this issue? Do you have new collections made from plastic every year, using plastic? (https://changingmarkets.org/report/synthetics-anonymous-fashion-brands-addiction-to-fossil-fuels/) And also have in your product line Monstrous Hybrids (https://sustainabilitydictionary.com/2005/12/03/monstrous-hybrid/) . This makes the recycling process basically impossible right? How are you going to address these issues in your business model? How much are you putting into finding alternative technologies that rely solely on cellulose for example? I'm not saying Patagonia does everything wrong but as a company you need to be brave, and not shy away from these issues, address them. We understand these issues won't be resolved overnight, acknowledging them is the first step towards finding proper solutions. Saying that you're not about fashion seems a bit of a stretch.

There are two stages in life when you don't care about fashion: when you're too young and you're too old 🤣. I'm joking, of course. I do appreciate that you, Patagonia, openly share the struggles of growth and no harm, fair wages, waste and energy consumption, etc. I'm at the age where I feel the desire to be fashionable less and less... odd colour combinations are so fun 😳

During an afternoon stroll with my friend a dog passing by seemed friendly and we stopped to give him a pet. Well, he was a bit too excited and jumped up and ripped my Patagonia vest about 8 inches. At first I was pretty upset and thought it was ruined but aha, the joy of knowing how to sew!! Yep, 2 years later, my. trusted vest is still working like a champ and as I like to call it since I'm a US Marine veteran, it's got a badge of courage:). Love your clothing and your mission!

But buy Patagonia secondhand. The volume of Patagonia clothing circulating the secondhand market is enormous. In Europe, use the Vinted app. No one really needs to buy another piece of new clothing, not even a piece of Patagonia. I’d love to see Patagonia adjust their model to really downscaling new clothing production and activating instead re-selling of their secondhand clothes and upscaling their repair services 🙏🏼 Not all Patagonia items are repairable either. I recently was told my repair staff that my waterproof duffles can’t be repaired, so perhaps some better thought into disposal of non-repairable goods would also be beneficial, and producing less of stuff that can’t be repaired. Rental shops too?
