“We simplified the mission statement from ‘Build the best product, cause no unnecessary harm, use business to inspire and implement solutions to the environmental crisis’… to ‘We're in business to save our home planet.’ I was skeptical at first. I thought, this is highly aspirational language. Yes, that's a value of the company, but how central is that to us?”    Listen to Patagonia director of philosophy Vincent Stanley’s interview with Inc. about growing a business responsibly. https://lnkd.in/gUh_RB8G

“I think as you get older you become more of who you always were. You become a more concentrated version of yourself. You really learn who you are, why you're unique, who you've always been [...] There's a winnowing away of nonessentials, sometimes essentials, it's true, but what remains is your core, your essence, the real you […] - Stacey McGlynn In the choice of Eau de Parfum vs. Eau de Toilette - I prefer Eau de Parfum. It’s more concentrated and as a conscious consumer of Patagonia products - your progression towards saving our home planet is just that…it is getting more concentrated as you mature = so fitting. I am for the simplified mission statement!

"Businesses do have a really strong role to play. The environmental crisis is deeply entwined with the social crisis and the solutions to both are the same. They tend to be the same thing. And to clean up the planet and to restore the health of communities requires the actions of government and civil society and of business." Incredibly inspiring to see Patagonia's commitment to sustainability, positive impact, and social responsibility. Their ability to balance a successful business with a profound social mission sets a benchmark for companies worldwide. As a nonprofit organization with similar values, we are incredibly grateful for Patagonia’s leadership in this space. They exemplify how to effectively integrate purpose with profit, and their continuous efforts serve as a role model for all organizations striving to make a positive impact. Thank you, Patagonia, for leading by example!

Patagonia A strong brand vision and mission statement is a great foundation for building a business that is well aligned with it's consumer base - and in this case it is great to see the alignment with positive change. Have you thought about how you could approach sharing this messaging in a meaningful way though creator lead marketing in the TikTok space?

I saw him last week here in Munich at the “we choose earth” tour and he was really inspiring. “Why is earth our most important stakeholder? CEO Patagonia: "because I don't want to move to mars"

📌 Doing business #sustainably and #responsibly - for a world worth living in now and in the future. #purpose: Good business and a better future. A healthy business sector is vital. Long-term sustainability is vital. A more responsible business sector is vital. 🗺 Responsible business can be the solution to society's problems. “We can lose ourselves in joyfully caring for others (#people, #plant & #profit) —and in so doing, find our deepest purpose.”

Every installation we have worked on that says this mission statement is always so powerful!

Absolutely inspired by Patagonia's commitment to sustainability and their dedication to simplifying their mission statement to "We're in business to save our home planet." 🌍 It's a powerful reminder of the impact businesses can have when they align their goals with the greater good.

Simply the fact, that there is a director of philosophy is amazing. Let alone the boldness to evolve as a business. So many companies remain stuck and become obsolete.

Reading Stanley and Chouinard’s latest “The Future of the Responsible Company,” and highly recommend. Talks about how Stanley and Chouinard have fostered an admirable culture of social responsibility at Patagonia the past 50 years—from Chouinard’s zen philosophy to the company’s enduring environmental ethos.
