INVESTING 💵 💷 💶 One of my favorite ways for thinking about the price of a ticket for a non-profit: Is that it's a form of investment. 🏦 When you think of it that way, well, who doesn't want patrons to invest more? Often this type of thinking about patrons only falls into frequency - which is a type of investment for sure Investment of time. ⌚ But imagine if we limited our concept of donations similarly? Imagine one of your development colleagues stating emphatically, That they didn't feel comfortable requesting a larger donation? 🤢 Or that there was a limit to how much a patron should ethically donate? But we do this with tickets because we think of it merely as purchasing something. Which to be sure, it is. 🎟 But it's also just another form of investing in a non-profit. So price can then be looked at as a barometer of confidence. This is how much our patrons believe in us. 🌈

There are several reasons why someone would want to do this: • To offset capital gains. • To reduce your adjusted gross income. • To claim charitable donations. If you run a school and have the pressure of fundraising on your back, a big part of how you'll fundraise is by utilizing your students and parent body. The cool thing about a school (unlike a regular charity), is that you already have so many supporters. But why would you want to turn to the parents for money? Aren't they paying enough tuition? What if you don't ask them for money? What if you ask them to help you with the fundraising process? Your next question is likely, "How do I do that without scaring them away?"
