I guess I can thank IBM for that 😜 The transition from Engineering to Learning and Development happened when IBM went through a big internal transformation and as a result I was asked to move to another city. It was not something I was willing to do yet again at that time in my life, so I decided to leave and Mindslines was born. I had always loved facilitating and became a certified facilitator during my time with IBM. The idea of pulling together a group of bright minds with distinct knowledge and passion to share what they know with others was something that really inspired me. I was genuinely amazed to discover that in Kyndryl, at the heart of progress, we are encouraged to be bold. A mere coincidence is found in the word "Heart." In the French language, "coeur" signifies "heart." Thus, courage is the intrinsic "heart" that empowers us to venture into risks. What I know for sure is that the more things we avoid, the more decisions we postpone, the less chance there is of failure and even less of success. We are often afraid of failures, which, in fact, are the best way to perfection and increasing our skills. Each improvement takes us a step further; each experience enriches and opens our eyes to new things. We don’t learn from easy and nice things; we learn from the hard ones. If we protect ourselves from failure and try to avoid risks, we are actually blocking our path to success. So, we must go outside the comfort zone, for that is where the magic happens and I make a habit of it. It's not that I'm impervious to stress; it's a constant companion. However, I choose to act despite it. Last year with my heart beating a bit faster I took the challenge to serve as the MC for Orlando Kyndryl Leadership Summit Day 2. It brought both pleasure and honor, coupled with a hint of stress. There was a moment of doubt about speaking on a stage before 800 people, yet the entire experience, from event preparation to standing on stage, proved to be truly remarkable. A heartfelt thank you to those who entrusted with this role, Maria Bartolome Winans, providing me with such a fantastic opportunity. Failure itself does not happen that often. It is the Fear of Failure that keeps us stuck. This is why: (1) Treat every failure as a lesson—an opportunity to learn new things. (2) Don't be afraid to try. Every attempt, even if it doesn't work, enriches your experience and expands your skills. (3) Each failure is one step closer to success, and each new step will take you further. (4) Take responsibility and learn from your failures; don't blame others for not succeeding. If you transfer responsibility to other people or circumstances, you can assume that nothing depends on you. (5) Don't give up! You have your own unique abilities, possibilities, and strength.
