🛩️✨ Today marks the 120th anniversary of the Wright brothers’ historic flight, a moment that forever altered the world. From that hill in Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina, their invention sparked a new era of possibilities.
🌍 The Wright brothers’ achievement in 1903 laid the foundation for aviation. Interestingly, just a few years later in 1911, Lloyd’s of London wrote the first-ever aviation insurance policy. However, by 1912, after crashes and losses incurred due to adverse weather at an air meet, Lloyd’s temporarily ceased writing aviation policies.
Reflecting on this journey—from the groundbreaking flight to the challenges in insuring this nascent industry—it’s a testament to the incredible evolution and resilience of aviation. Today, as we soar through skies safely and confidently, let’s celebrate the pioneers who transformed a dream into a reality! #AviationHistory#WrightBrothers#Innovation#AviationInsurance
120 years ago today, Wilbur and Orville Wright flew their new invention from a hill in Kill Devil Hills North Carolina….and the world, especially my world was changed forever!
When we agree, we don’t need the law—a handshake is as good as a contract, and maybe better. Our leaders negotiate and reach reasonable conclusions. Dispues get worked out.
The law is what helps us to live in the same society when we don’t agree. It’s never been more important than now. I’m looking forward to a lively discussion!
Next week, we have a very special guest joining us at our weekly Rotary meeting. We are honored to announce Dave Yost, State of Ohio Attorney General, will be joining us.

🤖 AI is not just a buzzword—it's a seismic shift that's disrupting the world much like the advent of the internet.
🚀 The machine is not the enemy or a replacement for your current employees; it is a force multiplier for human capability. A co-pilot that anticipates needs, automates tasks, and provides insights for strategic decisions.
🌊 The future of work is fluid. Be the fluidity that matches supply with demand, skill with need, and aspiration with opportunity.
🌟 This isn't just a technological advancement; it’s an evolution in making smarter, more effective decisions.
Kyle Morey-Leber is speaking at the SIA conference in Dallas, TX, AGAIN! We are highly biased in saying you should go, but also... he's been asked back, so we can't be the only ones who see his genius!
Way to go, Kyle!
Great conversation with an excellent LP leader, Malcolm Gaspard. Regardless of were you are in your career take heed of Malcolm's advice - "You need to be the author of your own story and advocate for yourself."
Here are a few of my additional thoughts on career development...
- Be a constant learner (profession and industry)
- Build relationships not just "connections"
- Do great work
- Take on new challenges and difficult assignments
- Remember "No" may mean, "Next Option" or "New Opportunity"
- Don't be afraid of failures or setbacks. They help you grow!
Finally, remember a career path is a journey built upon knowledge, experience and growth. Build a foundation, develop goals that help you grow and be ready and prepared for opportunities that come your way.
Thanks John Matas CFE, CFCI and Tracy Nini for bringing great leaders and learners to your podcast.
