When it comes to the cost of creating, managing and delivering technical publications to sustain a weapon system within the defense industry, it's not hard to see how siloed government contracting processes result in ever increasing sustainment costs with each new siloed project award. Either global governments need to change their procurement methods OR Prime contractors need to take the lead and do what is best for their customers to help their customers achieve their sustainment cost reduction goals. Or governments and prime contractors can maintain the status quo... that is an option. A potentially disastrous option! Global Government's and Prime's who are actively working their enterprise consolidation strategies are building their future competitive advantage! What are you doing?

The DoD is trying to figure out how to modernize its acquisition system, and a recent report includes "recommendations and case studies for DoD and Congress to move away from Cold War-era acquisition processes and enable the adoption of innovative technologies." It is good to see that the DoD Annual Performance Plan (APP) is promoting a focus maintenance of main operating systems and prime mission equipment (PME). When I read in the article that the Plan is 212 pages it makes me think of the Winston Churchill quote: "The length of this document defends it well against the risk of its being read." https://lnkd.in/dCARy7CK
