Happy Winter❄ Solstice🥂 As the Chinese often say: 冬大過年 Did you know? It means that Winter❄ Solstice is actually a more important tradition than Lunar new year 🙌 Winter Solstice (冬至) is like the Chinese version of Thanksgiving and it is a tradition that is widely celebrated in Hong Kong and the Southern Provinces of China. In fact, it is the shortest day and longest night of the year for this region 🌏 Although, there is no special food or red pockets to celebrate like Lunar new year, it is a tradition followed by almost every family to gather and have a cozy dinner. If you go back to its history, it is one of the first festivals celebrated by the Chinese and long before Lunar New Year was declared. Festivals are so important in developing a strong culture for different races and nationalities. The key is to inspire wide participation and follow the tradition consistently, then pass it on from generation to generation. Developing a strong 🚀 culture in a company is the same concept, it is never easy to start something and keep it going. But persistence pays and the elder folks need to pass on to newcomers to nurture the festivals, celebrations, and traditions to develop a strong culture. With a strong culture, everyone follows the vision! Enjoy a cozy night with your family! 🍷🍸 #wintersolstice #tradition #family Timothy Sze Karson Chu Nicholas Cheng Joey Pather Gary Ryan Peter Mack Anthea Suen Stephen Chow, CLSSYB Shane Armstrong Miranda Thang Julio Orr ToAsia.biz

Happy Lantern Festival to all tomorrow! It falls on the 15th day of the first lunar month each year, and it is on 24 Feb this year. It marks the final day of the traditional lunar new year celebrations, and symbolises reconciliation, peace, and forgiveness. In modern China, it is also the sign for many to finally leave the ‘holiday brain’ behind and focus on work wholeheartedly. The traditions of hanging lanterns and posting riddles on them are known. But what food to eat for this special day? Eating yuánxiāo (元宵), also known as tāngyuán (汤圆), is an important Lantern Festival custom, hence the name 元宵节, which is ‘yuánxiāo festival’ by literal translation. Yuánxiāo are round glutinous rice balls with sweet black sesame or peanut paste as filling. Other possible fillings include chocolate, red bean, fruits, lotus paste, and even custard. The list can go on - we are no strangers to the innovation and creativity of China’s food sector.

In modern China, it is also the sign for many to finally leave the ‘holiday brain’ behind and focus on work wholeheartedly, which could be a good chance for NZ business to move things forward with Chinese partners. In the middle of October, when nature changes colour from green to yellow, red and brown, and mornings are foggy and evenings cold, Danish children have a small break from school. Danes are always excited for this hygge family time - but it wasn't always like that. Wishing everyone a wonderful week ahead! Dumpling Festival, also known as the Dragon Boat Festival or Duanwu Festival, is a day celebrated according to Chinese tradition, on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month. The exact date varies from year to year, this year, it falls on June 10th. Qu Yuan, a revered poet and statesman during China's Warring States period (around 475-221 BC), is said to have thrown himself into the Miluo River, heartbroken by corruption and the fall of his state. There are two main stories associated with the origin of the rice dumplings (zongzi) eaten during the festival: 1) Villagers rushed out in boats to try and save Qu Yuan, but were unsuccessful. As a way to honor him and prevent fish from eating his body, they threw packets of rice wrapped in leaves into the river. These are believed to be the inspiration for the traditional zongzi. 2) Some believe that admirers of Qu Yuan threw food into the river to nourish his spirit after his death. The traditional Chinese Dragon Boat Festival is celebrated to commemorate him. His patriotic influence has left its mark on many subsequent generations in China and beyond. The tradition of eating zongzi became associated with the Dragon Boat Festival. This festival is a vibrant celebration with races featuring elaborately decorated dragon boats, a testament to the villagers' efforts to save Qu Yuan. It's also a time for families to gather, enjoy delicious food, and remember the importance of patriotism and integrity.😊 #AnyaTan #RedesignRetirement #Connector
