You've heard the term "๐ป๐โ๐ผโ๐ โ๐โ๐ผ" before, but what exactly does it mean? I recently encountered a unique experience in my HR journey that highlighted the importance of clear communication and understanding. We interviewed a promising candidate, investing an hour to build rapport and assess compatibility. Impressed, we extended an offer with an elevated basic salary, waiting five days for her response. Gratefully, she accepted, and we eagerly anticipated her joining us in three weeks. On the much-anticipated onboarding day, I reached out in the morning to ensure a smooth transition, receiving a prompt response that she was on the way. Confident in welcoming this exceptional talent, I eagerly waited her arrival. However, shortly after, she informed me of her decision to decline the offer due to a purported skin condition. This turn of events left us deeply disappointed and somewhat perplexed. Why wasnโt this information disclosed earlier, especially during our comprehensive discussions about the job role and her well-being? Transparency and honesty are paramount in any professional engagement, and this experience underscores the importance of forthrightness from both parties. To jobseekers: There are other qualified candidates waiting. Being considerate of other peopleโs time benefits everyone. Letโs strive for open communication and honesty in every step of the hiring process. #transparency #hiring #openness #jobseeksers

This is fantastic...HOWEVER...and I really hope people take the time to read this. It easy to KNOW deep within yourself that you ARE qualified and have a TON of skills as well as professional polish to bring to the table. The polish, knowledge and relevant cross-over skills that cannot be taught in a classroom, but are born, forged and honed in the fire of life and a variety of experiences that would make you a valuable asset to any organization. However, you read the job postings for even the basic of HR position and they almost all read like they were written from the same script, and you become discouraged. They all just focus on someone who can do A, B and C. It seems like no one cares about character or integrity anymore or the depth that someone can bring. Then there is this whole *gate keeping* concept. The resume screening software that cannot determine character or integrity, again just whether or not the proper keywords are on the resume and again all the boxes are checked. All of this can just automatically disqualify highly desirable candidates. What has happened in the workforce? Why has it become so shallow, why are people more focused on all of the right boxes being checked, why don't employers take the time to value applicants? Why should highly qualified job candidates have to play resume games and gymnastics to get noticed? These are just rhetorical questions I am posing as I already know the answers. I would suggest that since it is called HUMAN Resources, that employers focus on the HUMAN aspect. Take time to actually read over resumes and not just average 6-8 seconds. If a candidate has taken time to craft their resume in hopes to gain an employers attention why should it just be discarded by some impersonal software program or briefly glanced at then tossed aside. Who knows what gems you may be passing over. I believe that the HUMAN should be kept in Human Resources.
