Senate President Kathleen Passidomo used her 2024 Session Opening Day remarks to champion her plan to beef up Florida’s health care workforce and make improvements in health care delivery. Live Healthy aims to bolster Florida’s health care workforce and infrastructure and directs about $870 million to help get it done. Of that amount, $571.2 million would help increase the rates the state pays providers to treat the poor, elderly and disabled who rely on the safety net program. The biggest chunk of change — $195.8 million — would help increase the rates for home- and community-based providers. https://ow.ly/H9kG50QpwcP

Only 45 days left until federal funding for CHCs lapses. Your health center is one of the over 1,400 organizations serving the country's 31+ million Americans living in underserved, underinsured communities. And this funding ensures millions of people have access to critical health services. The crisis is only temporarily averted. Lawmakers avoided shutdown over the weekend, but have just 45 days to hammer out deals on longer-term funding for the government health programs and to tackle other expiring health programs and reforms that were left out of the stop-gap deal. Community health centers like yours, which serve patients regardless of their ability to pay, can rest easy—for now. But a path forward is unclear… We still need a longer-term bipartisan extension of funding! What can you do? 1) Learn more on the history of federal funding at NACHC https://bit.ly/46BJX1e 2) Leverage the Health Center Advocacy Network’s resources to continue outreach efforts https://bit.ly/3Q2sNnR Please share with your network for greater reach and maximum impact! #chcs #federalfunding #stopgap #communityhealthfunding #healthcareaccess #healthcareforall #healthcareisaright

How HCA, Tenet and CHS have grown — or shrunk — over 5 years: Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare operated 186 hospitals by the end of 2023, up from 179 in 2019. Meanwhile, two other large for-profit health systems — Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems and Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare — have trimmed the number of hospitals they operated over that span. http://dlvr.it/T44PK7
