Less than a month before #rarediseaseday! Please consider attending one of the many symposiums hosted by the NIH, Nationwide Children's Hospital, CHOC/UCI, etc. that will be happening that day or early March. Sharing is caring, so posting about #raredisease and wearing stripes or zebra-patterned clothing can be a conversation starter! A few facts: 7000+ rare diseases. More than 90% of these diseases are without an FDA-approved treatment. More than 350 million people live with a rare disease worldwide. 1 in 10 Americans lives with a rare disease. #rarediseaseawareness #zebra #showyourstripes #awareness #research

It may sound mundane but at scale, across users, this can be a killer feature. Ensuring that every raw dataset is transparently compressed on disk and before archiving? Notifying users when there are opportunities to keep things smaller? Accelerating sharing and deposition because the data is already compact? The first of the 21 things list comes out of the gate with a strong win-win for researchers and storage admins.
We're thrilled to announce the launch of our new campaign: "21 Surprising things you can do with Starfish!" Each week, we'll unveil a unique feature that you might not be aware of. First on our list: Starfish can detect uncompressed files across your systems and compress them. This not only frees up valuable storage space but also improves data retrieval times and reduces costs associated with data storage. Stay tuned as we continue to explore the many capabilities of Starfish Storage that can transform your data management practices, or skip ahead and see all 21 things now: [bit.ly/3yd4VaK] #DataManagement #DataEfficiency #21SuprisingThings

It’s been an honour to be included in this project again. The research has provided invaluable insights into how people’s unique histories can influence the ways they express and experience grief. Veterinary professionals are often the first to witness and respond to the intense and profound grief that accompanies the loss of a beloved pet. It's a role that demands great empathy and compassion, and it's not always easy. People react in a multitude of ways; quiet tears or uncontrollable sobs, running away or inability to be present at all, and even using humour or immersing themselves in the administrative tasks associated with their companion animal's passing. This diversity of emotional responses can be a perplexing challenge for veterinary teams. After all, our training and natural inclination is to connect with the non-human in the room, yet our compassionate care extends to the humans who love them. By better understanding the wide spectrum of human grief, we can equip veterinary professionals with the insights needed to navigate this complex and inevitable aspect of our work. #VeterinaryCare #GriefSupport #CompassionInPractice

For many people, the death of a companion animal can prompt intense and severe grief. I am pleased to have worked on this important recently published study with Associate Professor Amy Lykins, Professor Paul Mcgreevy, Professor Bindi Bennett and Nicola Paul to explore how attachment styles, continuing bonds, and time since loss interacted to predict grief severity in a large sample of individuals grieving the loss of a variety of companion animals. To learn more about our research and recommendations our study is available to be downloaded. https://lnkd.in/gpvKFFke #psychology #clinicalpsychology #griefstudies #petloss

Oracle Reading 8-14th Jan DRAGON’S HOARD ⭐️ Protecting the Future ⭐️ Legacy ⭐️ True Riches Welcome back to our weekly readings from the ‘Shaman’s Dream’ oracle deck. I hope you enjoyed and found value in the Animal Medicine that I shared with you last week on New Year’s Day, and perhaps maybe even inspired you to draw a spirit animal for yourself too?!? Funnily enough, I would appear that I still have a lot more ‘Transmuting’ to do! You may recall that my spirit animal for 2023 was ‘Snake’, and … you guessed it… that’s exactly what I drew again this year! The difference this time was, 1) I didn’t freak out, 2) I was not surprised, 3) I’m actually really excited to get it again. I experienced some pretty frickin’ awesome growth in 2023. Back to this week’s reading… It’s important that I share this gift of wisdom in the way that feels truly aligned for me, and today that means I’m not going to share my reflections here in the copy, but I dive into my takeaways in the video, so please do check it out. Peace and light to you all x If you found value in receiving this wisdom from the cosmos, it’s likely someone else will too, tag them in the comments so they too can feel supported and guided. Go with whoever intuitively popped into your mind as you read this. #oraclereading #legacy #dragonshoard
