Remember: 'You need to take time out to work on your business, not in your business.' Heather Matthews' Vistage UK journey is a testament to this principle. Joining Vistage initially felt daunting for Heather, taking her 2 years to finally make the leap. However, over the past 7 years, she has never looked back! Listen to her inspiring story in the video below as she shares how this investment in Little's has proven to be the most important and best decision she has ever made. Laura Gordon #LittlesChauffeurDrive #VistageSuccess #BusinessGrowth #Investment
I'm often asked - what do I love most about what I do? If you know me, you'll know I'm absolutely passionate about my role as a Vistage UK Chair and about my members, who I get to choose and to bring into my Groups. Around 9 years ago I met this incredible lady, who was really focused on the growth of her business. But Heather is a reflector, and thinks things through, and took a wee while to decide to join my Glasgow Group - 2 years!! Since then, she hasn't looked back. Her business has doubled in size, she has a global footprint, she's scooped most of the women's, family business and entrepreneur awards in Scotland, and I've been so grateful to have been on this journey with her. Heather outlines her journey with Vistage UK in this video, and I'm sure you'll agree, she's the embodiment of a wonderful leader, who genuinely brings others along with her. I love working with her and I love having her as a member. Thank you Heather Matthews! https://lnkd.in/eZyBZEsM

The lazy days of summer might be over but in Brezna, Montenegro, they've only just begun... While many of us equate relaxation with a fleeting weekend or a short vacation, the residents of Brezna have turned it into a competitive sport. For most, the idea of spending hours doing nothing might seem mundane. But here, it's celebrated with gusto. Welcome to the Laziest Citizen Competition, an annual event that has been running for 12 years. What began as a humorous attempt to challenge the stereotype of Montenegrins being 'lazy' has now become a national spectacle. And let's just say, the participants are taking it very seriously. This year, the record has already been shattered with contestants lounging for over 117 hours, and we're only in the second month! The challenge? Live life as you please - munch, scroll through your phone, delve into a book - but do it all while lying down. The only catch? You get to stand up for toilet breaks every eight hours. Any deviation, and you're out of the game. As the competition heats up (or should we say, cools down?), it's a reminder of the quirky traditions that make each culture unique. And while the rest of us hustle through our daily routines, perhaps there's a lesson to be learned from Brezna: Sometimes, it's okay to just lie back and take it slow. How would you fare in such a competition? #lazydays #competition #tradition

It's not "lazy," it's living. I am all for this competition that promotes rest, despite the title of it as being lazy. Marc Apple has hit on something I've learned in my more than two decades as an entrepreneur. Rest is essential. Hustle and grind are so yesterday. The concept of rest has gained such positive traction of late, with movements such as #TheNapMinistry. We entrepreneurs should take note and slow down. After all, we didn't get into this work to hustle and grind; I certainly didn't. I address this in my book, "Becoming the Minimalist Entrepreneur." We are to enjoy life. Yes, we serve and produce and get the job done. But what's the point of it all if we never take the time to enjoy the life we've created? Take a break. Get some rest. Go for a walk. Take a vacation. You are guaranteed to emerge better for it. Whatever work awaits you will still be there. #takeabreak #entrepreneurship #leadership #writeabook #takeanap

Daniella Levine Cava Veteran Housing Corp would ask three questions about the housing projects you support or are involved with: 1. How much funding, federal tax credits, or government benefits or incentives from all government sources did the projects receive? 2. What is the affordability period for each project? 3. What guarantees exist that tenants will not be displaced after the "affordability period expires? Every local, state, and federal housing authority and affordable or workforce housing stakeholder should adopt the State of Vermont's "permanent affordability" policy as a model for all future government funded or subsidized housing projects or developments, no exceptions! https://lnkd.in/eFEUC8c8

When should we eat, and when shouldn’t we? The answers to these simple questions are not what you might expect. Threaded throughout are Hendricks’s own adventures in fasting, including a stay at a luxurious fasting clinic in Germany and in a more spartan one closer to home in Northern California. This is a playful, insightful, and persuasive exploration of our bodies and when we should―and should not―feed them. Find out more here: https://ow.ly/R7ux50QEPZW
