... and there gets another one of possible Hydrogen applications challenged: long distance trucking. Hydrogen proponents always maintain that long distance trucking can not be done by battery electric trucks. Scania Group begs to differ. 😎 Scania is showing what is possible today. I'm pretty curious what they will encounter concerning charging infrastructure and problems with parking space at chargers for the truck. After all, these are early days for BEV HGVs. And I am most interested in how big the difference in time will be on this journey, compared between a standard ICE HGV and this BEV HGV - when all resting requirements are followed. I hope we can get some information about that in this thread. I will follow this closely, and wish all the best to #queenoftheroad during this trip into the future! I think Michael Liebreich and his #hydrogenladder will be proven right in the long run: hydrogen will not have any place in mobility, neither in FCEV or H2 ICE applications. One year ago, in September 2022, we headed off to Belgium. Our first foreign expansion. In just 12 months, our Belgian fleet has grown to around 1,500 vehicles driving through Brussels, Antwerp and Ghent (and in between).  👎 The most interesting part is always what didn't go 100% smoothly. That's where you can learn from. For example, we had to change our initial fleet a bit because the EcoScore did not allow us to start with our transporters. Teaser: We are planning to catch up with that. Furthermore, two national languages are one more than in most other countries…(ok, fair point, we knew that before.) 👍 However, we were positively surprised by the openness of the people. The need is clearly noticeable and the demand has increased significantly. More and more people are looking for environmentally friendly and cost-effective mobility and are discovering a diverse mix of train, bus, bike and carsharing for themselves. 🔮 Looking to the future, we will not rest on the status quo. We want to further expand our presence in Belgium. This includes new vehicle models such as e-vehicles and the van category, expanding our business areas, collaborating with public transport systems. And more. We are looking forward to more years and have a little present for our Belgian users and those who want to become one. ⬇️

Day 1 at the Xeneta Summit wasn't just about ocean freight and our third keynote saw us take to the skies with Adriaan den Heijer, Executive Vice President at Air France KLM Martinair Cargo (AFKLMP). Adriaan gave a fascinating insight on the air freight market. He said: “The landscape is changing rapidly, with huge industry-wide shift from offline to online channels. Germany is making it easy to choose public transportation over personal cars. Here's how: 💶 For just for €49 ($54 US) a month, a Deutschland-Ticket allows unlimited travel on all city buses, subways and trams in every municipality across Germany. The intended goal of the initiative is “to reduce carbon emissions by making it easier and cheaper for people to use public transport.” The program began in May 2023 and early results are promising. 🚆 The number of train trips (greater than 30 kilometers/19 miles) increased by 27.5% in June to more than 123,000 on work week mornings. - This is compared to less than 97,000 train trips in April. 🚗 Additionally, “There were nearly 100,000 fewer daily car trips on average in June, compared with the same month in 2019 — before the pandemic and last year’s €9 ticket." Lufthansa Rail&Fly is a prime example that we lack so much end to end consumer experience in Germany. I had a first hand experience when a boarding pass printed by Lufthansa with their own Rail&Fly TrainNumber with seat reservation was dismissed by ICE Ticket Master in the Train. "There is no ICE Train Number printed on these boarding passes", hence your seat reservation is not valid. I was travelling back from vacation in US where i had the most amazing consumer experience each day while Shopping or Travelling or Renting. German Brands clearly lack alot in giving consumer the experience and service they deserve. I fear for future for German brands as product differantiation will continue to become flater and flater with Globalization. What is your best or worst consumer experience ?
