#Breaking - Peterson Health Technology Institute (PHTI) releases its first digital health report on Diabetes Apps and it doesn't bode well. "As a result, the current evidence base reviewed in this report does not support broader adoption of these solutions" I have to dig into this, but it follows on earlier criticism of digital health solutions in general that there isn't enough evidence to support them. Using AI to improve chronic disease management!   EMPOWER, a mobile app jointly developed by NUS Computing and SingHealth aims to help patients with conditions such as diabetes and hypertension adopt healthy lifestyle habits. #NUSInnovation   EMPOWER harnesses the power of AI to analyse data collected from smart wearables to provide real-time, personalised educational and behavioural interventions. For example, users will get nudges to maintain a healthy diet, exercise regularly, and comply with medication schedules. #NUSImpact   A trial involving 1,000 diabetes patients showed improvement in average blood sugar levels after using EMPOWER for three months, with some users sustaining improvements after a year. Another trial involving 320 diabetes patients to evaluate advanced features and health coaching is ongoing. #NUSResearch
