One aspect in Powin’s StackOS article cannot be emphasized enough: “collect, store, and analyze granular data down to the _cell_ level”. Reason by way of example: I own 200 Lithium Werks (formerly known as A-123) ANR26650m1B LiFePO cells for a personal disaster response project. While they are quite safe, the risk of something going wrong is never zero—and the worst outcome is a cell whose internal resistance gets too high. Best case scenario: I have a drop in power or the heat dissipated wears out other cells. Worst case scenario: thermal runaway, dramatically increased warranty repair costs required under contract. It’s easy for folks to just think that BESS is “just a big battery”, but a healthy understanding of the _engineering_ efforts to properly INTEGRATE a system deserves respect and appreciation. *PS: LOVE the sensor-specific firmware craft! It only takes one thing to topple an entire system down…
