Recently, the California Health Care Foundation and our health care community partners shared with the California Assembly Health Committee how state leaders can help create a more diverse health care workforce, and how such efforts can improve patients’ health access, experiences, and outcomes. What are solutions for building a workforce that align with state’s population, especially the 15 million Californians enrolled in Medi-Cal? 🔹 Improve the disaggregation of data to better understand the language needs of Medi-Cal patients. 🔹 Increase academic scholarship funding and student loan repayment resources for early career professionals who want to work in underserved communities. 🔹 Advance holistic admission processes at all health profession schools in California, especially medical, dental, and pharmacy programs. 🔹 Bolster allied health profession partnerships between California Community Colleges and California State University campuses. “There are no spot fixes,” said CHCF’s Kathryn E. Phillips. “Our health workforce is a critical infrastructure. It’s the infrastructure of care. And just like our roads or our bridges, we need regular assessment. We need infrastructure upgrades. Our workforce deserves more. Our patients need care.” So great to be with our partners at this hearing! ⭐️ Make your next pelvic exam easier ⭐️ Pelvic Health expert ⭐️ Women's Health Innovator⭐️ Co-Founder of the Institute for Pelvic Health ⭐️
We want to take a moment to highlight you and thank you for all the work you do. You are a superhero! You do so much to help others but who supports you? We wanted to create a space NPs could hang out in, get answers to questions they’re grappling with, find inspiration, be mentored, network with other amazing professionals, and uplevel their skills and qualifications to make an even bigger impact on their patients. The second big reason was to create a collaborative place of learning that bridges the gap between evidence-based studies (which are so restrictive and primarily conducted on men) and what we see and know to be working in our clinical practices. We call this learning clinical-based best practices. We want you to share your own evidence-based wisdom and insights, and together we will create a substantive body of knowledge that’s currently missing in women’s health. The third reason was to create a learning environment for you that currently doesn’t exist. We wanted to bring all kinds of women’s health experts to teach subjects to our members to make learning interdisciplinary and break down the siloed learning. ‘Stay in your lane thinking’ needs to go! And lastly, we founded Woman NP Please because we both have daughters. We want your daughters, nieces and grandchildren to experience a level of care and wellness far superior to what we have today. We want to know: What do you hope to get out of this community? What topics would you like us to talk about? We know you have something special to share with the world - we would love to hear and have you be an expert speaker on Woman NP Please! We can’t wait to hear from you - we’re waiting! #grateful #nursepractitioners #strongertogether

Founding Director, AAMC Center for Health Justice at Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC)
New funding opportunity from the AAMC Center for Health Justice! Trust is foundational to community engagement, and community engagement is foundational to health equity. Unless organizations with power & privilege demonstrate they are worthy of their community partners’ trust, even the best-intentioned health equity efforts will fail. In 2021, the AAMC Center for Health Justice published the Principles of Trustworthiness Toolkit to guide organizations in building and sustaining equitable partnerships with their communities. Now, the center will award up to five multisector community partnerships with up to $30,000 to formally use the Toolkit for a year and contribute to its evaluation and iteration. · What actions would demonstrate trustworthiness to your community? · How do partnerships grow & strengthen when those actions are taken? · How do stronger partnerships create more health equity impact? The application period opens Monday, Nov. 13 and closes Friday, Dec. 22. An informational webinar will be held Nov. 30 from 3-4 p.m. ET. The session will be recorded and made available after the webinar.
