Typically, determining the right number of technicians to have in your shop is referred to as the “vehicle-to-technician ratio.” But a group of fleet managers agrees that only using the number of vehicles in the fleet to determine your technician needs won’t get you to the right number. What do you think? ➡ https://loom.ly/uHORGhw #technician #fleettechnician #vehicles

Hughes Aircraft Glory Days Part 8 of 10 A highly skilled technician would turn the X or Y handle to position the laser over the hybrid and then fire the laser with a foot pedal to trim the resistor while watching the DVM until the voltage value was within pre-burn in tolerance. He / she would then set up for the next resistor trim on the hybrid and repeat the process until all resistors had been trimmed to tolerance. While rare, it was possible during this labor-intensive manual process for the technician to over trim a resistor rendering the entire Hybrid worthless. After every resistor was trimmed on each hybrid, the hybrid would go through a pre-burn in test procedure on the Data General Test System. It became apparent to us that our department could automate the process of resistor trim, pre and post-burn in test from three procedures into one. This would automate much of the manual process, dramatically improve laser trim quality, drastically reduce trim and test times, and allow us to employ less skilled technicians to run the system. I was responsible for this project, engineered the hardware, and wrote a program that automatically aligned the hybrid within the trim station (Call 11), set the voltage, trimmed each and every resistor sequentially within tolerance (Call 12). At the end of trimming, a pre-burn in test would be performed. When the test passed, the computer would print out that the test passed with any vital data, the technician would initial the pass slip and include in the Hybrid’s lot traveler, then send to burn-in. Our talented team provides you with exceptional service in avionics installations, upgrades, bench repair, and aircraft maintenance. One of our experts is Marc Renteria, Senior Avionics Technician, Install Supervisor, and Inspector. We asked him a few questions so you could get to know him better. 1. How long have you worked at Bevan? What does a typical workday look like for you? I have been here since October 1996. In today's quest for new/advanced avionics, we specialize in Garmin Digital Data Avionics, which covers all aspects of the imagination. Installing new/upgrading old avionics is becoming the next best challenge. 2. What is your favorite tool you use in your work, and how has avionics changed over the years? We use the most up-to-date avionics tools to get the job done right the first time. These include IFR 4000, IFR 6000, T-Rex Navigation, and Communication Testers. With these tools, we achieve our customer needs. When I started working, there were only Steam Gauges in a Six Pack configuration. 3. Why do you enjoy working Bevan? In the time that I have been here, ALL of the staff have been superior in all aspects that a person could wish to work with. This includes the new CEOs after our fallen President and Leader, Kent McIntyre. If there are any issues, the work-family can solve just about everything. Our expert avionics techs can help you with your next project. Get started: https://lnkd.in/gACCZmGy. #SoaringHigh #AvionicsRepair
