The Wall Street Journal recently reported the gap between the needs of children and the schools who are struggling to find enough teachers and resources to meet them. "A record 7.5 million students accessed special-education services in U.S. schools as of 2022-2023, including children with autism, speech impairments and attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder. That is 15.2% of the public-school student population, up from less than 13% a decade earlier, the most recent federal data shows." Here at eLuma we are committed to long-term partnerships with districts to fill those gaps and provide much needed services. 💚Solve staffing gaps and burnout with a reliable network of school psychologists, social workers, and speech and occupational therapists. 💚Support your students through individual or small group counseling with our licensed counselors. 💚Proactively assess, manage, and evaluate student progress with a partner and platform dedicated to successful caseload management. 💚Develop a tiered approach to school-wide wellness with comprehensive solutions from universal screeners to customized training. Board Certified Behavior Analyst and LBA in Virginia and North Carolina, Certified Ohio Behavior Analyst
🧠💙 As a BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst), I'm passionate about promoting compassion and respect for ALL children, regardless of their neurotypical or non-neurotypical status. Here's why it matters: 1️⃣ Every Child Deserves Dignity: Regardless of their neurodiversity, children are individuals deserving of dignity and respect. Valuing their unique strengths and needs is a fundamental human right. 2️⃣ Fostering Inclusivity: Compassion and respect create an inclusive environment where children can thrive. Inclusion benefits not only the child but also society as a whole. 3️⃣ Building Trusting Relationships: Compassion and respect form the foundation of trust between children and caregivers, educators, or therapists. Trust is essential for effective learning and development. 4️⃣ Reducing Stigma: When we treat all children with kindness and respect, we reduce stigma around neurodiversity. This, in turn, promotes acceptance and understanding. 5️⃣ Supporting Growth: Compassionate and respectful approaches empower children to reach their full potential. It's about nurturing their growth, one step at a time. Let's commit to a world where every child, neurotypical or non-neurotypical, feels valued, loved, and supported. Together, we can make a difference. 💪💙 #CompassionForKids #InclusionMatters #NeurodiversityAwareness

This should be worth a read...I have only had the time to read the Exec Summary and Recommendations so far, but they seem to cover very relevant and interesting topics. They include; · Initiatives to raise awareness, capitalise on productivity and reduce stigma · Supporting autistic people to begin or return to a career · Making recruitment practices meet the needs of autistic applicants · Supporting autistic people already in the workforce · Supporting autistic staff to develop their careers https://lnkd.in/e7RVJ6-K

Enrolling your child in ABA can be daunting. Chances are you will speak to a variety of individuals on this journey and it may be hard to keep up with everyone. ➡️ You may start with an intake coordinator who will gather a variety of information from you to ensure ABA is a viable option. If they determine you’re a good fit, they will pass you to an ➡️ Operations Manager. The OM will likely book your child’s assessment and then pass you on to a ➡️ Clinical Director and/or on-site BCBA. One of these individuals will conduct your child’s assessment, write your child’s Plan Of Care/ Behavior Support Plan and work with his or her team on submitting to insurance. Once your child is approved for services you may meet the ➡️ BCBA on your child’s case. They will be responsible for overseeing your child’s progress, providing parent education, and advocating for your child’s needs. They will then pass you on to an ➡️ RBT. One or more Registered Behavior Technician(s) will be assigned to your child and will provide direct, 1:1 therapy. This person will be responsible for implementing the programs and teaching instructions outlined by your BCBA. If you want to see how long your child’s BCBA and/or RBT has been in the field, you can look them up on BACB website. This site will also let you know if any clinicians on your team have been sanctioned and/or if they are in good standing with the board. 💻 Use this link to search: https://lnkd.in/gfKxi4sK (https://lnkd.in/gfKxi4sK) #aba #asd #abaintheatl #autismparenting #autismjourney

Insights at Work Working with children who have special needs requires a collaborative approach because each child has unique challenges and strengths. In a school setting, this means that educators, therapists, and support staff need to work closely together to create an environment that supports each student’s learning and development. This teamwork allows for sharing different perspectives and expertise, which is crucial in developing effective strategies tailored to individual needs. In doing clinical work, professionals like psychologists, special educators, speech therapists, and occupational therapists must also collaborate. This ensures that therapy aligns with educational goals and that all aspects of a child’s development are addressed. For example, what a child practices in speech therapy should support their ability to participate in classroom activities and interact with peers. Effective collaboration in both aspects is not just about meeting regularly or sharing information. It requires active listening, respecting different viewpoints, and adjusting plans as needed based on collective input and the child’s progress. This kind of teamwork leads to more holistic and effective support for children with special needs, ensuring they have the best opportunities to succeed. So proud and excited to be a part of such a team! Psychologist Juhi Khushal Singh Khanna #mentalhealthmatters#childrenwithspecialneeds#SENcentre#psychotherapy#integration#collaboration#teamwork
