Making it to the starting line is always something worth celebrating. In the ABA world, it signifies a family's commitment to their child's journey -- the new schedules, hours, and practice. And, like with anything in life, consistency is key in ABA. A family must stick to their "training plan," the individualized program created by their clinical team to meet their child's needs. ABA therapy focuses on building skills to achieve larger goals and foster independence. However, our learners aren't running a sprint; it's similar to a marathon instead. The journey of progress is a long marathon composed of numerous smaller goals that lead to achieving the larger ones. Committing to the recommended hours is essential in building those skills and reaching the next milestone. Refer to BPI 888-308-3728 buff.ly/3sqHMPE

I have leerned a lot about boundaries over the last 6 years during my time in ABA and I hope young BCBAs can learn from my experience. I think we should establish boundaries that we can monitor and are willing to stick to. For example, don’t go to that case that you already said you do not want on your caseload because that kid is going to fuck you up. Demand the company send someone who is equipped for that type of case. Also establish boundaries that are reasonable for the company to maintain, for example if your company gutted your admin team, tell them someone else can do that work because you didn’t sign on to manage a caseload AND be the admin team. I know we hear a lot about boundaries these days and some of it is zeitgeist culture war garbage. But if we establish boundaries that are reasonable we will be happy, healthy and hopeful we will thrive. It has hit a critical mass for me as I am seeing more BCBAs and RBTs get vocal about their needs and I refuse to stop saying what we are experiencing in our field out of fear of burning a bridge. I know my worth and I know that we are in great need and limited supply. I love what I do and I will fight for this work as long as my back can carry this cross. I work hard and have been respected by those who know my work ethic and seen the progress my clients have made, so I will let that speak for itself. I wish I had the ability to start something new and beautiful, because I would try my hardest. In the meantime I will try with what I have, thats all we can do right? #ABA #AppliedBehaviorAnalysis #BehaviorChange #BehaviorAnalysis

Today is the day! It's your turn to join a cohort for Your First Steps To Freedom: A journey for BCBA. The challenge starts TODAY! I think we can all agree, the field of ABA needs to change. There are good, ethical professionals and organizations out there. Maybe you're one of the lucky ones and this has been your experience. But it's impossible to ignore that this is the exception and not the rule. So many individuals need our help. Families are desperate for support. We get emails all the time from parents who need services for their child but can't get them. Smart, ethical, hard-working, devoted professionals are leaving the field in droves because they're not able to make the impact they imagined when they chose this path. There isn't one of us who can fix this, but if enough of us turn our good ideas into solutions, even if they seem small, together we can be the change we want to see in the field. Your First Steps to Freedom will help you identify the idea that only you can offer the field, then it gives you the steps to get your solution to the people who need it most. This program will help you identify who you are most able to help, and what they need that only YOU can give them. It gives you an action plan for creating your first offer, so you KNOW you have what it takes. The students who have taken it are already making a difference. Check out our registration page to see what they are saying! https://lnkd.in/eMzWNEjA
