Executive Strategist, Problem Solver, Collaborator, and Speaker on the topics of Customer Experience, Analytics & Innovation
One of the most frequent questions that I've been asked over the past 11 years is "Why did you decide to become an independent consultant?". The answer is that it is one of the few opportunities where you have these four freedoms in your control. You can do what you want - that means you control the assignments and the content of your work - which projects you choose to accept or not. You can do it where you want - meaning location and travel, or more importantly, lack of travel, is up to you. You can do when you want - meaning that you control your hours and whether you work 20, 30, or 40 hours a week - or if you work nights or weekends - it's under your control. And finally, the most important - you get to do with whom you want. This quite simply is the "no jerks" allowed policy. You don't have to accept jerks as co-workers, business partners, or clients. You can work with people that you like and respect and feel the same about you - so that you enjoy your work and have fun. My list of amazing clients and colleagues over the years is long, and I'm sure I'm missing a few, but these individuals have made my consulting projects so much fun - Brian Seewald, Erin Leonard Kelly, Dan Hinkel, Roger Rawlins, Tony Weaver, Jami Dewolf, Steven Yaffe 🌍 ✌🏻, Eric Hovest, Ben Blanquera Brian Sampsel, Michelle Reese, Megan Douglas, Jesse Haynes, Jennifer Peterson, Kerri Ward, MCM, Dave DuBose, Jennifer Finnell Hunter, Ronnie Berry, LC Johnson, Gita Chari Mattes, Cindy Diaz Casebolt, Gilles Georges, Doug Stafford - CPCU, Channie Mize, Scott Leshinski, Nada Aried, Tyde Prater, 🍻Pete Gordon, Matt Wald, Ty Henkaline, Angela Thompson, Tom Clements, therese mccann, Eric Lloyd and more. I'm excited to add to this list over the coming years.

The best compliment you can receive from management at work. Boils down to three words: “I trust you.” Trust trumps everything.

We Write to Win | Proposal Writing | Copywriting | Proposal and Marketing Design | Writing to Win Training | Foundation of Winning
4th Quarter Madness – It’s here! Every year, right? Our customer, the government, drops opportunity after opportunity, preferring to publish right before a holiday, too. How do we manage it? 1️⃣First, our relationships should be solid enough with our customers to give us an inkling of their timing. 2️⃣Second, any sources, sought, or RFIs should have received a response from us 3️⃣Third, if we were fortunate enough for a draft RFP to have been published, we should being working a draft response or have already put it on the shelf, awaiting the final. ❓What else❓ Are your Teaming partners in place❓ Subs lined up❓ Key personnel in recruitment❓ Past performance selected❓ Win themes, differentiators, and value/benefit statements with supporting proof points articulated and agreed on❓ Pricing in the works❓ 👉Most important of all… 👉We’re not throwing the proverbial spaghetti up against the wall to see what sticks. 👉We are strategic, going after work we know, for customers who know us and we know, and opportunities worth directing resources towards. Why?⤵️ ‼️If we aren’t strategic, we submit half baked responses and damage any trust we may have built with the customer AND ‼️We stand the chance of losing team members through demoralization and burn out. There is always an abundance of opportunity, but our resources are precious and scarce. Don’t waste them. Happy 4th! 🎆
