Check out this chart on the difference civic education can make: civic engagement is so much broader than election season activities. Another way to look at the figures below is that even with all the restrictive shenanigans, voting is still the most visible, most accessible civic engagement activity right now. How could we push more of those bubbles to the right... and what would our culture feel like if most of these participation levels clustered around 50-60% or more, not 15-25% or less?

Today, on World Teachers’ Day I want to give a shout out to teachers for all they do each and every day. I also would like to share an extract from the report from the International Commission on the Futures of Education – Reimagining our Futures Together: A new social contract for education recommends that the teaching profession be reimagined as a collaborative profession. To do so, it is essential to shift the way in which we perceive teachers: they should be valued as key agents in renewing the social contract for education. Teachers are lifelong learners, catalysts for change and creators and facilitators of knowledge, and mentors who engage students and support them in understanding the complex challenges and realities of our world today. Let's join in the call upon countries to ensure that teaching is transformed everywhere into a more attractive and valorised profession where teachers are valued, trusted, and adequately supported to meet the needs of every learner. Thank you to teachers all over the world. https://lnkd.in/eHPEz32g
