⛳️Tiger Woods’ 27-year partnership with Nike has come to an end, where the brand reportedly paid over $500 million over the last 27 years. 📈Having a superstar like Woods on their roster was a business decision and the association had massive impact on Nike's golf business. 💡 Endorsement effect boosted Nike’s golf ball sales by 9.9 million dozen and added $103 million in revenue 💡 Just 18 months after Tiger Woods’s initial endorsement, Nike increased its golf ball market share from 1.5% to 6.6% while Titleist dropped from 24.9% to 21.8% 💡 Moreover, having Tiger Woods' endorsement led to a price premium of roughly 2.5%. As a result, approximately 57% of Nike's investment in Woods' $181 million endorsement deal was recovered just in U.S. golf ball sales alone 💡 Nike's golf business has amassed more than $10 billion in sales, withe the peak year in 2013 with $791 million in revenues 💥If chosen strategically, a brand ambassadors can really define your brand and boost sales What next for Tiger? 💡It could be an extension and expansion of partnership with TaylorMade Golf Company as the company looks set to come up with a new range of merchandise 💡Something on the lines of what Roger Federer did with On after termination of his partnership with Nike. Tiger Woods has ended his deal with Nike after 27 years. Even non-golf lovers are familiar with the Tiger Sunday red Nike polo, helping him lift 15 majors across his career wearing this iconic polo. He has said in interviews previously that red was his “power colour” and has helped him feel strong mentally going into Sunday’s, which if you know golf, is the day that everything is all decided. Most golfers on tour cite Tiger’s mentality as the main reason (outside of his undeniable talent) as to why he’s so successful. You'll see a couple of crazy stats below that help back this up for when it matters most. Yesterday at our all-company meeting, I shared a little about Matt Scott, paralympic gold medalist and world champion paralytic basketball champion. He was also the first Paralympian to be featured in a Nike ad. See here: https://lnkd.in/g6Tq-vgB   I have been thinking about what it takes to accomplish anything at such a significant level and concluded it starts with the belief that you can and the commitment to remove the excuses from doing so. In other words, it starts with your thinking. For me, I have found the best way to consistently engineer proper thinking in my life is to reset every morning. Life tends to tell stories to us that are contrary to our dreams and desires, so every morning, it's critical to retell ourselves the right story.    I found the following quote from Scott that really drove this point home.    "I live an extremely fulfilling life of adventure, success, and athletic triumph. I have lofty goals and dream really big, and I wake up every day chasing those dreams and goals no matter what."   Big goals, re-focus on those every morning, no excuses.    Not everybody aspires to be a gold medalist, champion athlete, create headlines, or have their own Nike ad. Some want to live a quiet life of joy and significance having an impact on others behind the scenes. The formula however is similar, reset your mind on that which is most important and block out the stories that tell you otherwise. “Satisfy us each morning with your unfailing love, so we may sing for joy to the end of our lives.” (Psalm 90:14)   Resetting your mind each morning on the source of joy is the only way for us to hit that target consistently through this beautifully messy life.    Whatever your lofty goals and dreams may be, don't allow the world to steal those from you. Don't allow current circumstances or limiting beliefs to close doors you believe you were created to walk through. Remove excuses and insert your calling. Engineer a morning routine that sets your mind in the right place, your heart to unwavering commitment, and your feet walking in the right direction (even if they hurt).
