"To the bankers, to the sovereign funds I would say, why don’t we simply sit down and talk about how to turn this precipitous decline in #biodiversity into a regenerative #BlueEconomy. Because you can pay for the relief efforts later and they’re going to be 10x the potential investment cost today. In the meantime, you create jobs, you protect nature, you make it possible for us to inhabit and in fact thrive on this planet." During the United Nations World Oceans Day event on June 7, 2024, Rare CEO Brett Jenks joined a panel moderated by TIME's Chief Climate Officer, Shyla Raghav to discuss the blue economy with Ocean Risk and Resilience Action Alliance's Karen Sack and IUCN's Barkha Mossaë. Today we're celebrating #WorldOceansDay, which happens every year on June 8. Did you know that only 10% of the oceans have been explored? #AwakenNewDepths “There is so much still to learn about oceans – and, importantly, to reverse the damage being caused to our precious lifeline resource.” —Dennis Francis, President of the UN General Assembly The State of the Ocean report warned that the rate of ocean warming has doubled in 20 years and that coastal species are suffocating due to decreased oxygen levels in the ocean, among other things. While these truths are heart wrenching, we must take them as critical calls to action in our daily lives. One of its conclusions is that “ocean literacy practice and research is a strategic ally to optimize resources, accelerate behavioral change and improve the implementation of ocean conservation programs and sustainability practices.” We can make a difference together, primarily by learning and making sustainable purchases. #LovetheEarth #WeLovetheEarth

Heading to the United Nations to attend World Oceans Day. Hope to see many of the you there in person or virtually! I'd also stress that Anthropogenic has been imbued with Ocean action from the start. We incorporated in the fall 2021 and presented the first thesis of the company after being invited by an Ocean action group to present, just 4 days later which was wild. Over the last few years ocean finance has grown and we are now developing intelligence solutions for the blue economy that includes data from both public and private partners to support emerging "Blue" finance which will support island economies, biodiversity, food systems, sustainable cities, islands and nations, climate resilience and much much more. It's all about action, not words. Join me in celebrating World Oceans Day.(https://lnkd.in/egpczUSK) #WorldOceansDay #BlueEconomy #OceanAction #UN #BlueFinance Anthropogenic

For anyone who has been triggered by climate anxiety recently (for whatever reason), you need to know that there are thousands of people out there coming up with the solutions we need. And not just solutions to fix our climate, but others to revive our oceans, to protect and restore nature, to build a waste-free world and to clean our air! The Earthshot Prize announced their 15 finalists for 2023 the other day. Each finalist is bringing the future into clear sight today. Each solution is helping address the greatest challenges humanity faces. If you need a bit of optimism and positivity, you could do worse than reading more about these finalists. #Sustainability #ClimateAction #AirPollution #NatureRecovery #CircularEconomy #Oceans https://lnkd.in/ejAUnRUw

Incredible talk about the Anthropocene and climate change, and how what we as Westerners are (going to be) facing is and has already been faced by countless Indigenous groups. About how the project of Settler-Colonialism is and has always been about re-forming the Earth itself, alongside of species, human and non-human, to fit their own limited ideas of what living on Earth can entail: a bleak exploitation-based relationship with the world. More on this in my upcoming writing. https://lnkd.in/evdXu4j4

Indeed actions are crucial to save our planet to shun away from the ill effects of climate impacts which we are facing right now. The key areas to transform is the global energy sector which will decide the fate of our transformation towards an better world. Governments needs to focus on energy sector for such apt climate actions. Climate finance emerges as an key point for such transformation to happen. G20 countries account for 80% of emmissions so to crub it there active involvement and participation is key. Reducing the inequilities that exists needs more focus as this could be an better way to involve each stakeholders in this climate action expedition. Impacts of extream droughts impacting food production which gets happened by glibal supply chain challenges result in high food inflation this in turn effects populations. key are constructive proactive science based actions to avert this challenge by involving whole of society. Quite an sagacious take by Executive Secretary UN Climate Change Mr.Simon Stiell.... on 10 April 2024 at Chantham House. #Learn4Climate #Climateactions #UNSSCforclimateactions #PACCDA2021 #PACCDA2022 #SPSD2021
