Today is Waitangi Day, which marks the anniversary of the Treaty of Waitangi (6 February 1840), an agreement entered by representatives of the Crown and of Māori iwi. Kia ora koutou katoa, As we mark the 184th year of Te Tiriti o Waitangi on this Waitangi Day, it's essential that we pause to reflect on the significance of the Treaty of Waitangi, acknowledging both its historical context and the ongoing impact it has had on our nation. This day serves as a reminder of the decisions made, the injustices committed, and the consequences borne from our past actions. It is incumbent upon us to take accountability for the present and chart a course towards a better future for all. A positive collective outlook for the future will be the driving factor. While many of us grasp the importance of Waitangi Day, it remains crucial to disseminate knowledge and history surrounding this pivotal moment in our collective narrative. By sharing this understanding, we not only enrich our own perspectives but also ensure that future generations are equipped with the insights needed to navigate our shared path forward as New Zealanders. With the guiding principles of aroha, mutual respect, reconciliation, and acceptance, let us forge ahead towards a future marked by unity and inclusivity in Aotearoa New Zealand. The concept of Kotahitanga, or unity, holds particular significance as we strive to cultivate a society where all individuals are valued and heard. He waka eke noa! We are all in this together, without exception. Regardless of our whereabouts, whether basking in the sun-kissed beaches of Aotearoa or braving the chill of London, I extend warm wishes and good health to all on this Waitangi Day. This month, I embarked on a solo journey to Ujjain, a city rich with history and culture. While my initial intent was to immerse myself in the city's heritage, I soon realized that this adventure was shaping me professionally in unexpected ways. Navigating unforeseen circumstances became the norm. Losing my Aadhar card at the airport was a wake-up call about the importance of vigilance and careful handling of important documents - lessons just as applicable in a professional context. A particularly proud moment was at the Mahakal Mandir, where I noticed people disregarding the queue. Taking a stand for order and fairness, I encouraged fellow visitors to respect the queue system. It made me think - isn’t it crucial to stand up for what’s right, even in our workplaces? Interacting with locals, understanding their customs, and even feeding an elephant with my own hands, immersed me in Ujjain's vibrant culture. This enhanced my ability to connect with diverse audiences, a skill that is increasingly valuable in today's global professional settings. This trip to Ujjain, while intended as a personal journey, ended up providing me with valuable insights into my professional life. It reminded me that experiences outside our comfort zone often shape us into more adaptable and assertive professionals. I'd love to hear from my network - have your travels or personal experiences shaped your professional skills in any way? #personaldevelopment In frame: A picture of mine standing in the Mahakaleshwar temple. As an ardent devotee of Lord Shiva, it was nothing less than a dream come true! ❤️

💡 We're all in P2P business. It's not the businesses doing business with each other, it's the people doing business with people. And like with any other relationships, we're all looking for that special one - that one who brings out the best in us and challenges us to grow and fulfill our potential. This year we asked ourselves if our values still match with who we have become and what we're trying to achieve. Everyone in Katana joined in the discussion and voiced their thoughts. We ended up tweaking our values a bit to make them more clear and focused, and to make sure they continue inspiring us to grow. But the core remained the same. So, this is our DNA. These are the values we live by. How about you? What are the values you live by? #companyvalues #companyculture #teamwork #inthistogether
With Christmas right around the corner, it's always good to take a minute to reflect on your journey and define what you stand for. Here's what it means to work at Katana. 🤍

Should #values be static? In my mind values, if consciously formulated, are there to guide us to success. Therefore as success itself is redefined over time and evolvement, the values should evolve to support the way to success. In a company setting, as business and team evolves and grows, the culture evolves as well. Therefore the values we live by, that define the HOW to the WHAT & SUCCESS, might need a revisit every now and then. Katana Cloud Inventory values, initially crafted within the tight-knit core team of 50-60 Katanauts, have also evolved as we are growing as a company. The entire team of now 150 has been involved in realigning the core values. Coming together to the drawing board and asking: "In this stage of Katanas growth, are the pillars of HOW still supporting us in the WHAT and our aspired SUCCESS?" The answer? Yes they still do! The core values that carried us to this point are still the values that we believe support and aspire us in upcoming growth as well - in our evolving WHAT & SUCCESS. But asking the question and coming to the board still had an impact! We have collectively realigned on our HOW - adding more clarity and understanding the focus of each value, it's meaning and behaviours it inspires and how it links to our WHAT and SUCCESS at this stage of company growth. Through that collective effort on realigning values - I am confident that we are cooperating and aligned on set of values, the HOW, that truly help us thrive in Katana and get our ambitious goals. Values, for us, are not mere aspirations, they're the foundation on which we build our success. And in challenging moments they are keeping us accountable and guiding us back to the principles that define us. If or when we drift away from Katana values - we challenge and support each other to get back on track to success. If or when there is a wider sense of friction, and I am sure over time and evolvement these moments will come, we come together and challenge the clarity of our core values - the HOW - and align it to our current WHAT & SUCCESS as a team again. #peopleandculture #companyculture #valuesdriven #inventorymanagement
