Yesterday, our Head of Brand Marketing, Lucy Alex Robertson, joined The PR Net for a conversation on the latest updates and best practices for marketing and creator collaborations on YouTube. YouTube is now the 2nd biggest search engine after Google, and audiences are watching more YouTube than traditional TV, so it is an essential marketing channel for any successful brand. Here are our key takeaways from the talk: 🔎 Think about your why - YouTube favours quality of engagement rather than volume of engagement in the algorithm. So - whilst consistency is important - so is what you’re posting. 🤖 The perfect pair - Combine the use of tools and the human approach (we're all obsessed with the influencer space, after all, so have our own lists of rising stars and faves!) to identify the right creators for your campaign and ensure all nuances are considered. 🗑 Throw out the script - Make sure that ads feel like they’re integrated rather than dedicated. Broadcast channels on Instagram are a great way for creators and brands to send direct messages to their followers to give exclusive access to their content. Think of it as giving a behind-the-scenes look. We have noticed brands giving sneak peeks to upcoming products, special events happening and companies releasing exclusive news to channel members first. Two things to note about broadcast channels: Creators can only reach followers who have joined (that’s why you’re seeing the notifications) Channel members can’t reply – they can only react with emojis to show their support or otherwise of the creator’s message.
