I'm so pleased to announce our latest hire at RedStream Technology! A huge welcome to Ryan Conway who's pivoted from being a General Manager in the theater industry on huge hits like Avenue Q and Mamma Mia! to technology and creative staffing. He's quickly becoming well-versed in all things AI/ML and Data Engineering. And there are few people more capable than someone who's worked in professional theater. Welcome, Ryan!

Replacing FOMO with NOMO.
Quantity is not (necessarily) quality. That's been pretty obvious for a long time.
And it seems quaint now to think that Bruce Springsteen recorded "57 Channels (And Nothin' On)" in 1992 to reflect one example of quality dilution through excess content (and probably some other commentary about the ills of consumerism more broadly; at this point, I just remember that the song exists, but I don't really remember the song. You know what I mean). Anyway, 57 Channels was more than anyone could ever hope to watch, and yet nothing seemed worth watching.
I don't know what the 2024 equivalent of "57 Channels" would be, but I know that data has proliferated at an incredible rate since then, not only in entertainment, but in everything.
FOMO tempts us to try to keep up (again, not just in entertainment, but in everything). In reality, in the words of OpinionRoute's Rich Ratcliff, we have "a real need for meticulous and integrated curation."
The article linked in the comments below explains how FOMO should become NOMO (Necessity of Missing Out). #workbetter#worksmarter#mrx#dataquality#surveyoperations

Big Picture Science Radio Show: Your Mind on Movies
By one estimate we spend a fifth of our lives watching movies or TV. In fact, we consume entertainment almost as habitually as we eat or sleep, activities that receive scientific scrutiny and study. So why not consider the effects that watching movies and TV have on our minds and bodies too? When we do, we find that they are not mere escapism. A data scientist reveals why we are what we watch, and how scientists and filmmakers work, often with competing agendas, to create sci-fi entertainment.

When busy Sales Managers and Directors love their sales team, but also want to scream at them to improve their results, they call me. I help their teams sell more, to the people they want, in less time.
Human brains haven’t evolved for 1000s of years. We’ve just got shinier tech.
Great day with some of the team at MorePeople yesterday.
Delivering consistent BD in recruitment is essential for a healthy pipeline and reducing stress all round.
Technology has evolved for BD beyond all imagination over the last decade. But humans haven’t.
The phone is still your number one channel as part of a cadence to reach the people you want to work with.
Phones have changed (here’s Jordan Waobikeze trying to figure out a manual dial phone from 1975) but how humans emotionally react, engage, fear, stress, laugh and strive hasn’t changed for 20,000 years.
Get good at talking to and listening to other humans and everything else is just tinsel.
